Getting your new group on the Website

The steps to get your new group in the groups list.

Goal

If your goal is to have a group in the Redwall MUCK, one of the important parts is to have it listed in the groups section. This way, there's a place for you and your new members to post all the information and events that allow easy recruiting and management.

Also, having a group page lets you add discussion forums of your own that are just for your group's activities. It also provides a good place to add the details that news announcements leave it, and having links to your groups area in your news announcments is a good method for getting people to look at your carefully prepared site.

Details

Actually, it's pretty easy to get a group listing here on the site.

First, you need to setup an area somewhere in the MUCK where your group can be found. This is crucial, since otherwise players couldn't actually walk there. Ideally, this is reachable from portal, but if not yet linked, you can always list a jump number. Do try to link in, though.

Then, create a description page in your home web-account area. See the information on adding a document to your home folder for this. This page should include the purpose of the group, the in-game name of the beast running it, and information on where in the game to go to find the group members. A path made with the mapper is good here.

Next, you need to post a "new group announcement" on the new group page. This is just a comment with a link to the page you just created. Keep it short and sweet, like "New group forming in Mossflower for squirrels" with a link to your page. See adding links if you aren't sure how to link to your page.

Someone with web authority will contact you in-game and help establish your group folder under the official groups area. At that point, you and your team should start assembling pages under it, and making it a good marketing piece to help sell your group to the players.

Conclusion

Don't forget to read through the group howto page for more information. And by all means, if you think something more should be added, put your suggestions into the site improvements page.

Good luck!
