I want to know why they took off dogs as a species i mean i can't see any reason to why they did that.

they did it because as far as i know there are no books with dogs in them included in the redwall series.

Actually I believe there is mention of dogs in one of the books, but I can't back that up with a quote. Anyway, I think the main reason that dogs were taken off the species list is that they were so powerful that it made them too disposed to power-playing. At least that's what someone told me once.
