Redwall Abbey: Leadership

Abbot/Abbess
Head of the Order. The ultimate authority on all things dealing with Order business, especially policy and domestic issues. Healer, Teacher, and Scholar.

Elders

These serve to advise the Abbot/Abbess, and serve as Redwall's ruling council on important matters. Please note that none of these positions, while they have an affect on the Order itself, require the beast filling them to be an Order member.

  • Abbey Champion -- Martin's representative. This is a warrior of near unmatched ability. He/she bears the sword of Martin as a symbol of the office. Head of Abbey defenses. Deals with all things martial pertaining to Redwall's safety. Assists with training defenders in times of need.
  • Badgermother -- Head Caretaker, also serves as council for the Abbot/Abbess. In charge of Redwall's dibbun population, from entertainment to education to meals to hygeine. Apprentices future caretakers. Also may or may not assist the Champion with matters of defense, depending on experience.
  • Master Healer -- Head of the infirmary and infirmary staff. In charge of organizing and charting medical supply stocks. Assists in training other healers. Is responsible for the health and well being of all Abbey members.
  • Recorder -- Is responsible for the documentation and organization of all of Redwall's vast collection of records. Must keep track of important events and record them for future generations. Serves as a historian. Assists in the education of novices in the history and creeds of Redwall. Looks after the library.
  • Friar/Head Cook -- In charge of organizing all of Redwall's food supplies, and the preparation of feasts, as well as daily meals. Assists in training apprentice cooks. Keeps the kitchens, larder, and scullery in good, clean order.
  • Groundskeeper -- Responsible for the overall cleanliness and caretaking of Redwall's gardens, orchards, and vineyards. In charge of the annual havest. Oversees planting, weeding, watering, and pruning. Trains apprentice gardeners. Has good knowledge of herbal lore of all sorts.
  • Cellar Keeper -- In charge of Redwall's vast assortment of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Sees to it that there are ample supplies for all occassions. Keeps the cellars clean and in working order. Trains apprentice brewers.

OOC Leadership and Responsibilities

The Abbot/Abbess, Abbey Champion, and Badgermother work together jointly to take care of IC and OOC issues. OOCly, the Abbey Champion and Badgermother both have equal rank, but the Abbot/Abbess has the final say on matters pertaining to the IC and OOC running of the group.

  • They are in charge of maintaining Redwall's adherance to its own rules, and the rules of the MUCK.
  • They are required to connect at least two hours per week.
  • They are expected to RP regularly, as well as assist each other in planning events and TPs for Redwall.
  • If OOC issues come up, and they are unable to fulfill the connection requirements, they must let the other two know.

These three positions are huge responsibilities, both IC and OOC. If someone is picked for the job, they must hold up their end of things, or they will lose the position. Remember that anyone holding these positions answers to Otter as well as the general populous of Redwall. He giveth and he taketh away...

The other Elders are below the three listed above, but are all of equal rank with each other.

  • They must connect and roleplay at least once every two weeks. Please note that this means roleplaying with Redwall's populace, not each other. They are expected to be seen in public.
  • They are in charge of assisting others, especially new members, with their roleplay if there is need, and they are in charge of building and encouraging roleplay in Redwall.
  • They must organize and carry out one event every six months, OR, one TP every year.
  • If there is some reason that they cannot fullfill their responsibilities, they must let the other elders, as well as the Abbot/Abbess, Badgermother, and Champion know.
  • If someone fails to hold up their responsibilities, they risk losing the position. This decision is made by the Abbot/Abbess, Badgermother, and Champion.

In addition to the IC leadership, there are two purely OOC positions.

  • Manager -- This person does exactly what the title indicates in that they manage the OOC running and organization of the skills lists, the upkeep of the rooms within Redwall itself, and make sure that OOC rooms and objects are kept clear from the IC area of Redwall.
  • RP Instructor -- This person is in charge of helping the newer members to the MUCK and Redwall Abbey. They will hold OOC classes on roleplay topics such as speech, combat, adding depth to characters, and healing, among others. While this is a Redwall position and our goal is to aid Redwallers, these classes will be open to anyone on the MUCK who would like to participate. The RP Instructor may invite others to help out with certain topics, such as commands or creating villains.

The leadership will hold monthly meetings to discuss IC and OOC issues regarding the group.

  • Once again. The leadership of Redwall is expected to roleplay regularly, and in public. Therefore they should strive to avoid long periods of dormancy in private rooms, or excessive amounts of private RP. In keeping with this, all Elders are required to have the radio active in their personal dormitories. We want to see that you are indeed RPing. This also helps to make sure that all the rules of the MUCK are being adhered to.
