Long Patrol Logs

This is where the Long Patrol logs are posted.

As those of you who are members know, players with Long Patrol characters are required to present logs twice monthly in order to maintain their membership. And while the logs were posted by the leaders in the past, the job is now being turned over to all of you. In order to submit your log, you will need to post a comment. The comment should contain a link to the log document that you have placed in your personal member folder. In order to learn how to create a document, please go here.

However, for a step-by-step explanation, read the following:

  • First off, I will assume that you have already joined the website. Now, make sure that you are logged in.
  • Up in the right-hand section of your screen there ought to be a link that says my folder. Go to that.
  • Once you have done so, you should see an area which has a select option, and beside this, add new item. Click on select, and choose the option document and then click on add new item. This will create a document and take you to an editing page.
  • Then, simply add the text from your log into the body text section. Also, include the names of those characters involved in the role play before the log itself.
  • Also, in the name section, please enter the date of the role play, and title it and describe it however you wish.
  • Now, return to the logs page, click on add comment and either simply type in the url for your document, or make a link. Making a link is relatively simple, and I feel that this site explains it nicely.
  • And, that's it. Congratulations. :)

Now, you are ready to post your logs. Remember, log-posting is a requirement. For every month, the first period starts on the 1st and will end on the 15th, while the second period will start on the 16th and will end on the final day of the month. Start sending those logs in today!

Thank you!

Hey, another Darklett log. I don't even know if I needed to post one. Been so busy, I've lost track of what's what. Eh, in hindsight I'm not really happy with this rp. But then again, it's all I've been able to manage recently with all the stuff I need to do for school. But this isn't a livejournal, or blog, or... whatever "isn't my life interesting, please read all about my angsty stories of self-discovery" website is the fad this week. So on with the log!

Thistle's first RP

Posted by: Thistle at 2005-03-31

-------------- Salamandastron --------------- You are next to a niche in the side of the mountain, which blocks out everything to the west with its immense rocky bulk. Just barely visible is a small fissure in the rock, through which it looks like you could enter the mountain.

-------------------------------------

Darklett is a peculiarly dark-furred hare of average height and average build for his species. His amber eyes complement his odd dark grey and deep black fur color. He usually speaks with a low bass tone of voice, suspiciously sarcastic, perhaps a little cynical. His face is one of a beast who has fought for what he is, his features proud and solid, but not necessarily grim or serious. It is also noticeable that he walks with a very slight limp, favoring his left leg. ======================================================================================================================== Darklett appears to be some sort of officer, wearing a slightly different uniform than that of a Long Patrol Fighter-hare. It consists of a leafy green tunic that is quite thick. It seems to be designed so that it keeps out the cold but can also have the sleeves quickly removed, allowing for it to be altered to suit the situation. The pants that go with the tunic are a dark, earthy brown, lightweight, designed with the marching hare in mind. Both trousers and tunic are densely populated with pockets of various sizes, each one the correct size for containing a certain handy tool. The arms and shoulders of the tunic bump slightly, from the looks of it there are hardened pads under the material, for light protection. This uniform carries a small Long Patrol symbol sown into the front pocket, and a black badge on either shoulder. The badge shows two white lines running parallel; this is the sign of Long Patrol lieutenant and thus signifies this hare to be one of the Long Patrol officers. =======================================================================================================================

~~~------------------------------~|Thistle|~------------------------------~~~
*) Before you stands Thistle, a smallish hare with sand colored fur.
*) Her most prominent feature are her ears. They're both a bit longer then average, though the left one has a tendency to droop down over her eye.
*) Thistle's face is round and warm. She has a pink nose and deep green eyes. Delicate whiskers sprout on on either side of her cheek, standing above the thin line that makes up her lips.
*) Her body is strong and lithe. Her build is for speed and not strength. Her hind legs seem particularly well-muscled.
*) Most of her body is covered in fur that's the same color of sand, though her feet and underbody is a clear white instead.
*) She's currently wearing a tunic that's the same color of her fur, and a thin brown belt. There's a sling shot tucked into it with a few bullets in a sack next to it. There's also a rapier tucked in.
*) Thistle looks to be a fledgling adult, a brand new runner for the long patrol.
spoof Slumped against the rock fissure that makes up Salamandstrom is a sopping wet hare, her chest heaving up and down as she struggles to catch her breath. The thunderstorm that descended earlier in the day has now dwindled to a comfrotable light drizzle. A day's run with only a couple of pauses could take a toll on the best runner, and Thistle's definitly showing signs of fatigue. A couple of minutes ago, the young squirrel child she found out among the dunes scuttled inside, promising to rouse the attention of someone who could let her in. Why doesn't she just go in herself? Thistle's a stickler for rules. She's not going inside the mountain until she has -permission-.
Having been alerted by Audri, Lieutenant Darklett heads outside of the mountain at a brisk enough pace, his eyes narrowing at the sight of the younger hare. Straightening himself up, he makes his presence known to the other, walking in front of her and giving her a nod of greeting. "Hello! Welcome to Salamandastron. You look exhausted." He offers a small grin to the young doe, waving his paw towards the entrance to the mountain. "Come on in, we'll talk inside."
spoof Exhaused as she may be, Thistle isn't too tired to give the Lieutenant a proper salute, as taught to her by her grandfather. " Righto sah! " She enthusiastically responds before dropping the salute and gracefully ( heavy breathing aside ) following the Lieutenant inside. Outwardly, she appears calm and collected. Inside , however, she's nearly giddy with glee. She's finally here!
Darklett turns away to lead Thistle into the mountain, waiting until his face isn't visible to the younger beast anymore to allow a wide smile cross his features, barely keeping himself from snorting out a few chuckles at the eager young hare. He does, however, keep his composure as he looks over his shoulder, and begins walking backwards. "Travel very far? You looked as if you were about to perish out there."
: does her best to contain her eagerness, though her exciment begins to creep into her tone after a few moments. " Been limbin' it across the beaches all day , sah. I only paused tah pick up the treemouse. " Her words come out in starts, the young doe still trying to best to get her breathing under control. A particularly loud growl from her stomach proves that fatigue isn't the only thing she's suffering from.
"...Pick up?" Darklett's pace slows, but he never stops. "What, was she wandering out on the beach?" Still walking backwards, he looks over his shoulder to make sure he's not about to run into anything, then looks back to Thistle again. "In any case, let me see what I can do about getting you something to eat... I assume you're here to join up, unless you felt like a good old day-long run along the shores just to -see- this big old rock of a mountain."
:pauses for a moment, paws dropping to her knees as she catches her breath. She -really- is winded. After a few moments of heavy breathing, she hustles to catch back up with the officer. " Yes sah. I found her on top of a sand dune. Mentioned somethin' about runnin' away. And yes sah, I'm here tah join. Been waitin' for this moment all me life."
"Hah! In that case, we can't have new recruits withering away from starvation!" Darklett turns around and speeds up his walk towards the Dining Chamber. "I'll see what I can do to get something warm for you to eat." With that, he disappears into the Dining Chamber and heads straight for the kitchen.
-------------- Salamandastron --------------- This is the dining chamber for the mountain of Salamandastron. It is a veritable cavern, the necessity of feeding so many hares making the room so big. Dominating the room is a huge banquet table made of solid oak. Nobeast knows how such a venerable object came to be here, but its presence is undeniable. Smaller tables skirt the outside of the room, each sitting near a large torch burning brightly in its sconce. The chair at the head of the table is different from the plain maple chairs that occupy the rest of the room - it belongs to the Badger Lord. The massive object is graced with a carving of the very mountain it is in, with the sun setting over the sea. -------------------------------------
: seems quite relieved at the words, and pratically bursts from the pride upon hearing herself described as a recruit. Containing her excitement, she turns her attention to the mountain. Her awe in the it is easy to see. After living in a hole for so long, it truly is amazing to see a room so large as the dining chamber. Pulling her attention back to the official looking hare in front of her , she smartly responds, " Yes sah! ", and waits at the kitchen door.
Darklett disappears into the kitchen... And just a little later, he comes back with two bowls of some steaming soup, looking rich with veggies with some dark-colored broth. Setting them on one of the smaller tables in the room, he kicks out a chair for Thistle, and pulls one out for himself, sitting down and pushing both the bowls over to the other chair. "Come on, have a seat. Your footpaws have gotta be tired after a full day's run."
:'s eyes widen considerably seeing the vittles that the hare brings back with him. Eagerly complying with that last command, the young doe sets herself down in the chair offered and reaches for a spoon. "Yes sah! " , she repeats, this time an eager glee lining her voice. She needs no more encouragement, and quickly begins to tuck into the food eating rapidly while still managing to stay polite mannered.
Darklett sits back and watches Thistle as she tucks into the offered food. Huh. She -does- know this is the -military-, right? "So, you seemed eager enough to get here." He makes himself more comfortable in his chair, leaning back, his elbow on the arm of the chair and his chin supported by his fist. "What was your rush?"
~~~~~ Buckthorn Flemmington Hare ~~~ Buck is a rather large hare. He stands tall above others and his ears taller. He is covered with a thick winter coat, white save black marks around his eyes, nose, tail and around the edge of his ears. His ears stand up straight save the left one, that bends down about halfway up. Buck's face is finally shaped, his snout coming to a blunt stop, the end of it round and soft. A pink nose shaped like a heart sits on the end, and two puffed cheeks rest below it. Long whisker protrude out smoothly and a pair of white teeth stick out slightly from his mouth. His build is lanky, and used for high speeds with extra large feet. Thick chest fur comes out of the top of his tunic. His cotton tail is large and set on his rear like a sprig of cotton. He wears nothing but pale green clothes, a simple tunic and long pants. Both garments are finely pressed and only dirty after a hard day's work. Around his waist is a thick woven brown belt, buckled with a brass buckle.

Buckthorn was happy to finally be off his shift, and eager to sink his teeth into the leftovers of dinner. He never seemed to make it on time anymore! Still, no matter... Buck was often a fan of solitude as it was. So, enter Buckthorn, stage left. As if by some sort of luck (or curse, some might say) His eyes automatically land on his best friend and... a doe that was unfamiliar to him. He quickly stops in his tracks, eyeing them one by one for a moment. The hare leans up against the doorway, his arms crossing tightly. He doesn't seem angry or happy... just, confused and slightly hurt.

:holds off from the tucker long enough to explain herself. Now that she's no longer winded, she's able to explain.. " Thunderstorm ahnd the child, sah. It hit right aftah I found her, and I wanted tah get her tah safety on the double. " That explained, she resumes attacking the food. As it is, she's too focused on Darklett and the vittles to notice Buckthorn, just yet.

Darklett's eyes are caught by the appearance of Buckthorn at the entrance to the dining hall, and he gives the buck a wave and a smile, before leaning back on the armchair and listening. "Ah, yeah, Auree. The squirrel, that's her name. Good work bringing her in like that, by the way." His eyes wander up to Buckthorn again, who's just... standing there. "Well, you're off your shift, you gonna waste your off time blocking the entrance? Get over here, Buck-o! "

Buckthorn huhs? As he's addressed. "Oh!" The hare coughs and looks at the ground, as if this would make it less awkward... don't look directly at the lieutenant. Turning his eyes, his studies the other parts of the chamber as he makes a slow trek over to Dark's table. "I was... jus', y'know... seein' if tharr was food lef'." Buck explains... right as his eyes find the table loaded with food in front of them. "Hah. Guess so..." He looks up sheepishly at Dark, then to Thistle. "Hullo, there." He greets awkwardly.

spoof "Thank you sah. It seemed like thah right thing to do. " Thistle lowers her eyes back to her food and continues her supping until she catches notice of Buckthorn, by way of Darklett's addressing. "H'lo there. " , she says amiably. Her paw snakes out and pushes the extra bowl of soup into the arriving hare's direction. Thistle doesn't seem to notice the awkwardness.

Darklett grins at Buckthorn, fully noticing the awkwardness, but obviously misreading it. "Of course there's food. It's -Salamandastron.-" He says the name slowly, drawing the length out. He's about to introduce them, but he quickly realizes something. He casts his eyes down to Thistle. "Well, since you're pretty much a new recruit for the Long Patrol, it wouldn't hurt if I knew your name. What're you called?"

Buckthorn looks down at the bowl of soup. Erg. Working in an Infirmary didn't make a beast so keen on that sort of substance. "No thanks." He refuses politely, stepping back from the table. Ahem. "New recruit, huh? Thought yeh looked strange... I mean... uh... new an' all..." He says quickly, trying to redeem himself. "Not strange as in... er..." Buck looks at Dark, his eyes wide with wonder.

:provides , "Thistle Lopears,sah" before finishing off the last traces of soup in that first bowl. Mmm, that certainly goes far in making Thistle feel better. With warm food in her belly, she's a bit more perky. Giving a slight giggle at Buckthorn's stumbling of words, Thistle remarks, " I know what yah mean. Dun' worry about it. " And.. with that, she eyes the second bowl of soup. If he's not going to eat it..

For a hare like Buckthorn, he's sure awkward around the females. Darklett laughs at this thought, and encourages Thistle to tuck in. "Go ahead, it's not like there's a famine or anything. Have a seat, friend, Thistle, this is Buckthorn, a good friend of mine. As for myself, well I'm Lieutenant Darklett, but sir will do just fine." He gives Thistle a grin, before continuing his interrogation. "I supposed you know how the Long Patrol works. I guess you planned on being a Runner?"

Buckthorn shakes his head pushing the bowl right back to Thistle. Buck looks up as Dark leaves. "A-Auree... 'ight.." He says, his eyes turn back to Thistle. "Aw... well... yes 'm Buckthorn... 'ealer here... but beasts call meh Buck... or Thorn iffen y'like." Cough. He was never good with conversation... especially with someone he didn't know. "M'ah ealer... an ah..." He glances to where Dark ran off. "Ah runnah? Soun's fun."

"...Actually, Buckthorn, why don't you get acquainted with Thistle here? I'd better go check on Auree." Dark stands up, pushing in his chair. "Welcome to the patrol, Thistle." He nods to both other hares, and gives a jog out of the area.

:'s spoon digs down into the second bowl. Again, Thistle doesn't need encouragement a second time around food. "Yes sah, I've learned from me grandpah. Runnah is the position I'm hoping fah " A couple of more bites of her food, and she waves away the retreating officer. Tell thah lil' gel ah said hello for me sah! " Back to Buck.. She listens, and.. " S'nice tah meet yah Bucky. " She seems jovial enough. " How long have yah been part of thah patrol? "

Buckthorn raises both his eyebrows, obviously amused at the name. "Bucky? Well, can't say I've 'eard that 'un ah'fore!" He admits with a shrug. "'Ow long... oh jee... on ah mission t'make meh feel old, eh? Le's see 'ere... 'round 'bout five seasons... may'haps six. Came mehself t'follow in my lil' brotha's pawsteps!" Buck leans up against the edge of the table, lowering himself into the chair Dark had occupied.

:downs a couple of more swallows o' soup while listening to Buckthorn talk. " Your youngah brotha's steps? He's also in thah patrol? " The warm food and fatigue is beginning to make an obvious effect on Thistle. Her eyes droop ever so slightly, barely noticable, as tiredness begins to set in..

Buckthorn coughs uncomfortable. "He died... in battle." The hare says, a bit of pride in his voice. Every hare's dream! "Part o' th' job, y'know." Buck adds, not wanting to make her feel bad for mentioning it. The healer takes note of her dulling eyes. "Ah, you'll want t'sleep, I take it? Well! There ah comfortable rooms up 'un level, iffen yeh'd like. Yeh'll get yer own once in th' Pah'trol, o'course." Buck leans back, allowing her to leave if she wishes.

:s jovial manner fades at the mention of a lost loved one. " S a good way tah go. " , she agrees, eyes momentarily droppin' down to look into her soup for a couple of quiet and awkward seconds. " Ah do believe ahm going tah tuck in f'r thah night. S'a real pleasuah meetin' ya Bucky. " With a polite bob of her head, she finishes up the soup and stands.. With graceful strides, she begins heading in the direction of the exit.

End of RP..

Niche RP 6-5-04

Posted by: Rahier at 2005-06-07

Salamandastron: Niche -------------- Salamandastron --------------- You are next to a niche in the side of the mountain, which blocks out everything to the west with its immense rocky bulk. Just barely visible is a small fissure in the rock, through which it looks like you could enter the mountain.

------------------------------------- Visible Exits: [A]way from [M]ountain [Enter] the Mountain With: [DYN] Soleil

Soleil sits with her back pressed against the rocky face of the mountain, her knees drawn up in front of her. Her nose is buried in a book of some sort. Literally. Her pink nose is just a scant inch from the paper, her whiskers brushing against the outer edges of the pages. It's a wonder she can still see at all with the shadows growing longer and the sun sinking faster over the water.

Hehehe, oh dear. We see this all too often, bookitis. XD Ahem. Rah leans against the outside of the niche, tilting his head at this doe who is, well, becoming one with the pages. Very absorbed, we see. He wonders if she even notices the failing light.. much less him. ;p "Good book?" he ventures. XD

Soleil is indeed very absorbed in her book and starts audibly at the close sound of Rah's query. With a sharp intake of breath she pushes her bare footpaws forward in the sand, letting the book and her paws follow, and turns to face the older healer. Putting one paw to her temple, she blinks several times in rapid succession allowing her eyes to readjust to focus on something farther than an inch away. Taking a deep breath, she grins up at him, seemingly composed now. "It is," she says holding it up briefly to show him the title.

Ahh, here it comes... there! The freakout. XD He enjoys that the most. "Sorry, did I scare ya?" The healer beams, watching her collect herself with some mirth. ;p He squints slightly at the offered text, before nodding a bit. "Never eard o it." He flashes a grin. "How's it goin'? Y'musta been out here a good while."

"Oh no. Course not," Soleil lies with a grin, almost, but not quite rolling her eyes. She puts the book back down in her lap deftly turning down a page corner and closing the cover. Grin. "S'a good book, actually. I think y'd like it." She glances out to the water, eyes widening in slight surprise at the lack of sun left visible. "Aye. Musta've been." Turning to look back up at Rah, "Since a little while after lunch, maybe? It was a good book," she repeats again with a grin, slightly defensive. ;P

Don't make fun of one of the small delights he gets out of life. XD You'd be surprised at how easy it is to... surprise people around here. ;p Erm. "Oh, aye? Why's that, then? Haven't had a good yard in some time.." He folds his arms, glancing past her to the darkened sky, beginning to grin again. "Must've been. Someone coulda taken y'ears and y'never woulda noticed."

Soleil nods, "The main hare reminds me a bit of you. Dunno. Jus' does." Grin. "Want me t'give it t'ya when I'm done?" she asks, raising both eyebrows questioningly. Her eyes keep going up and she glances upward, as though looking at said ears. She reaches up a paw to tug one and looks back to Rah with a smile. "I don't know about -that-," she laughs. "I'm quite fond of m'ears. Might notice if they went missin'." ;P Rahier chuckles, nodding appreciatively. "Aye, aye, I'm gonna take that as a good thin', an' hope it ain't some kinna rapscallion, eh." He hrms. "Or maybe that'd be better..." Deep in thought on this, he taps his chin, before grinning once more. "Maybe, after a bit. Whatcha been doin', aside from readin', eh? My infirmary 'asn't combusted o' nothin', 'as it?"

"Oh no, it's a good thing. You'll have t'read it," Soleil assures him. "I've been organizin' lots of things round the mountain. Papers an the like. Oh! An' I got a second part-time position." She grins, waiting for the last bit to sink in, making him wait to hear what it is. "I'm t'help Neville with drink mixings and makings and servings." Grin. "An' your infirmary's jus' fine, thank y'very much. All in tact an' everything. The Second's even stocked properly.." She trails off, a mix of concern and confusing etching itself on her brow. "Haven't y'been there?"

Rahier laughs. ;p "Oh, I fancy a stop-in every once in awhile... 'tis only m'responsibility an' all. No biggy." Grinning, he nods some. "Good, good, drink mixin's jus' as essential. Y'can, ah, bring me somethin' by when y'start y'shift. Latest creations an' all."

Darklett wasn't planning on going out very far-- Just enough to get fresh air, really, and since the crater was ALL THE WAY UP there, and he just had a very large late dinner... Well, coming out through the main entrance seemed to be the best option at the time. That aside, the lieutenant is awfully disappointed that there are already beasts out here, having usually sought fresh air in solitude in the past. He shrugs to himself as all this goes through his head, and keeps his walk out, spotting Rahier and... what's her name... out in the niche already. As he heads out there, he gives a salute to the major, and a nod to Soleil. "Evenin'."

Soleil nods mock serious. "Course. I'll need someone t'test out all th'creations and tell me what they need. Can't trust jus' anyone at the bar either." The corners of her mouth twitch up and grinning, she adds, "You will stop by when m'servin' won't ya? I didn't want t'serve. Havin' t'talk to beasts I don't know? S'not really m'thing. But he said if I wanted t'help mix I had t'serve." A worry line creases her brow as she looks to Rah and deepens slightly before disappearing as she looks past him to the approaching Darklett. She mirrors his nod in greeting offering a polite Sah as well.

Rahier returns the salute, eh eh eh such formality! He steps slightly aside that Darklett may pass, and refolds his arms, leaning against the rock once more. "Arrr, 'tis I who c'n tell what's what." The hare beams, before looking from Soleil to Darky. "Allo, Dark. What brings ya?"

Darklett shrugs, shoving his paws in his pockets and taking a deep breath. "Just a break from the stale air of the big rock Salamandastron, Rah." He knows that the doe present is a healer. They've even talked once... Maybe he can draw it out of her! "So," he says, turning to Soleil. "Did I hear right, that Neville finally got his barmaid? Ha, can't say he didn't bother me about that more than once..."

Soleil shakes her head with a smile. "I wouldn' say that jus' yet, Sah. I told him I'd try it. M'more interested in the mixin' and creatin' than bartendin'." She tilts her head from side to side, getting the cricks out, pulls her footpaws back under her and carefully gets to her feet, stiff from sitting so long. Ah, much better. Not quite eye level with the others, but much closer.

Rahier grins. ;p "Stale air m'whiskers." His view moves from Darklett to Shorty Mcshortshort, ears shirking from the popping of joints and tendons. "If he tries t'give y'some kinda... bartendin' uniform, jus' run." Snicker. ;p "But nah, s'long as y'make y'shifts it sounds li' fun."

Darklett nods in agreement. "I'd say it's a decent enough job-- At least it'll help kill time. Plus, easy access to the drinks themselves... I've half a mind to go ahead and give bartending a try myself!" He chuckles. Cause he was just joking. Mmhmm. "But I don't think I'm really the kind of hare Neville was looking for, to put it simply, heh." He shoots a glance to Rahier with a chuckle and a grin.

Soleil just shakes her head, smiling wryly. "There'd best not be any uniforms," she says quite seriously, her expression a mild mixture of anxiety regret and amusement. Headshake. "I don' think I'm the type either, Sah. I'm quite nervous, actually." The doe turns almost pleadingly to Rah. "Y'will visit th'first time I've got t'work during the evening when it's busy, right? Jus' so there's a face I know?"

Rahier snickers madly. "Y'know ol' Nev..." Ahem. He uncrosses an arm to wave a paw, shaking his head. "Oh, oh, don' worry, I'll be wherever y'want me to. Can't have y'faintin', after all." Another grin. ;P

Darklett grins, shaking his head. "That's not exactly the kind of type I was talking about... Ah, anyway. Don't be too nervous about it; it's just pouring drinks. Oh, and there's the occasional irate hare, but other than that, not much to worry about." The lieutenant takes another deep, refreshing breath, and sighs it out slowly.

Soleil's eyes open wide. "M'not goin' t'faint! I'm nervous, but not that nervous. I jus' think it'd be nice t'have a familiar face there." Nod nod. "'Zactly. In case there's an angry fightah and I poor his drink all over the counter on accident or somethin'." She attempts to glare at Rah unsuccessfully before shaking her head with a laugh. "M'really not sure what I've got into now. Anyway, I should probably go. S'gettin' dark out." A quick nod to both and another Sah to Dark and she disappears back into the mountain.

Rahier is unsuccessfully glared at. XD "Ah, 'tis, isn't it?" He looks up to the dark sky, chuckling a bit. "T'was much lighter afore y'started readin', I'd guess." A shrug. "I migh' jus' follow ya, then." He steps aside so she can pass, and grins. "Enough o' th'niche f'me," and follows her inside.

Darklett smirks, but says no more on the subject of the exact -caliber- of hare Neville wishes to have for an assistant up in the rec room. Instead, he gives a nod to Soleil before she disappears, and then a wave to Rahier as he follows.

"Night, Rah." Watching him leave, he waits until he's out of sight to step out of the niche, and sits on the cool sand, leaning against the mountain, and taking a nice big breath of that sea air, feeling the cool breeze thereof flow across his fur, closing his eyes.
