There are some details to work out. Whichever hare lures the poor recruits out into the woods will be getting some serious comeuppance once they're found. Perhaps it's best to make this a NPC? We don't want any of our regulars to be thrown out of the Long Patrol in disgrace, or made to polish the outside of the mountain, or something like that, do we?

Second... What actually happens to the recruits? We know it's something awfully scary (to a recruit), but what should it be? This is where the plot gets comic or dramatic.

Finally there's the question of what happens to Vic. And that's where the plot can get really tragic...

Then again, it might be more fun not to decide these things in advance, but just let it flow of itself. It often gets much better that way.
