I don't know much about Taye's childhood... I know now about what his mom did, and how he was raised by his dad and Rahier, but...
How about this: What're his fonder memories of childhood, then? With Ewan and/or Rahier around, were there any awkward moments? :D Tell all!

It's hard to hide a relationship from a child when that child lives with you. Hard to avoid those little slip-ups.
A little Taye, peeking his head into the dormitory to see if "Da'" is in. Two bucks, sitting on the edge of the bed, one leaning over to plant a kiss at the corner of the other's muzzle with a murmured, "Love you."
"... Da'? Uncle Rahi?"
There are flustered explanations and shared glances, which the two always assume he doesn't notice.
"When two creatures are very good friends, Taye..."
An awkward situation with Taye in the classroom. The usually quiet leveret, in trouble? Rahier and Ewan sit him down after receiving the news from his teacher, later in their room.
"Y'... kissed yer friend?" Ewan, looking surprised.
"An' y'told him y'loved him?" That's Rahier's contribution, his tone as ever just this side of mirthful.
Twin tears, almost absurdly round, tumble over the brim and down Taye's cheeks. When they reach his chin and drip to the floor, Ewan's ears twitch as if expecting to hear the "plink-plink".
"Just... juh-huh-huh-hust..." He turns wide, fretful eyes first to Rahier and then to Ewan, his eyelashes dewy with tears. "Just wanted him t'know we was fruh-huh-huh-" Deep breath. "-hiends."
Another deep breath, and this time when he looks to first one and then the other, there is a determined out-pooching of his lip. "Like you n Rahi."
All Taye can do is stare in bewilderment when, after exchanging a solemn glance, the two burst out in hysterical laughter.
It is not until he is hoisted up onto Rahier's shoulders and paraded around the room that his slightly puzzled but delighted laughter joins their own.
