Canon and Canon

Redwall Abbey has problems. It was damaged in a serious earthquake; it's management team ("elders" and "abbot") expired in the damage, etc.

However, what makes that non-canon? In the books, there are periods in which the order is leaderless and the building takes damage.

There is a huge amount of vermin in the Abbey. There's only one way to solve that: non-vermin characters would have to join in. I know they aren't being prejudiced against (because I've slipped in secret alts).

It's common knowledge that I'm displeased with many things that happened in the Abbey in the past. But what doesn't seem to be common knowledge is that those problems have been corrected.

Is it perfect? No; I still get complaints about exclusivity in the RP. However, when there's only a few people playing in an area, that's likely to happen.

The people RPing in the Abbey have a harder time than most welcoming new players because the Abbey lacks what the new players expect it to have: a building in the shape from the books, with an abbot, leading a group of mostly mice.

That doesn't mean the Abbey needs to be unlinked and new management installed.

It does mean that anyone who thinks they can do better than is currently being done is certainly welcome to join the Abbey and SHOW the leadership they must have if they would lead a new Abbey.

I will not "appoint" or "approve" a new administration in the Abbey; nor will I authorize a "new abbey." I'm waiting for what happened in the books to happen here: a player will have the time and RL passion to ICly lead in the Abbey and revitalize it.

There is no way to "grant" the ability to do that. There is no way to "assign" the task to someone. And there is nothing to prevent anyone from bringing a character into the Abbey and being such a good RPer that others flock in and they become Abbess or Abbot.

We've had such players in the past. We will in the future. The players could even be found in those currently RPing there. It's more a matter of attitude, passion, and TIME.

Until then, the Abbey is ICly consistent with an Order that has lost its leadership, management, and passion. The building is recovering (watch its descriptions) and the Order will as well.

It's a lot easier to passively read in a book that some beast comes in and fixes everything: it's a lot harder to actually go in and fix everything.

Ahh, but what about the Badgermum?

Not to sound contradicting or anything Otter, but the only reason the Abbey functioned in that time (between Abbess Song and Abbess Mhera, for those keeping score) was that there was a strong leading personality in the form of Cregga Badgermum, and that only worked because nobody's stupid enough to argue with a big blind badger. No lie. I think it would be a good idea to unlink and move it, or something else.

In short, I propose a Tiny Plot that will remedy the situation, in the form of a group (Possibly supplied by the current GUISOM group or some other properly aligned group) forcing themselves into control, a current unpopular mode of action.

To see the other side however, is that Redwall is fufilling its Cannon responsibility in some way, though it has accepted vermin into it, which I think that it would possibly move towards eventually, plus some of the vermin (though I hesitate to call the characters that) have well-developed backstories that would be greatly discounted by unlinking the abbey in its entirely and moving it.

I'm a fan of a TP to change and possibly restore the order, though that's a limited solution.
