My own thoughts...

Despite the feeling that I should stay out of this, I'm going to say a few words. Redwall /is/ my main RPing area, and this seems to be a big problem.
Angst is essential to RP. Ame is right... if it remains happy cheery all the time, then it'll get boring. If everyone argues and fights all the time? It's still boring. The key is getting a good balance, which is one of the hardest things to do.

By no means am I saying Augustus is perfect. My character has added more angst and drama than a lot of the others. Some things I regret, and some things were essential to my character's development. Believe me, I've played a happy-go-lucky character, and they can be fun, and they can be boring. But the thing I did notice while playing this character was that he was /liked/. There wasn't any drama, and he wasn't scratching to fight every beast. I got an overwhelming response to that character because he was so different.

Is there too much drama and angst? I believe so. But it is very hard to simply have fighting breaking out everywhere one day, and the next everyone is peaceful and happy. It's just not IC. And I think staying in IC is our main concern right now. Why don't we turn this into a positive experience? This is the time where people need to start bringing out the leadership qualities in their characters and start ICly trying to solve this problem! The Abbey has been looking for beasts that can bring peace and hope to it... why not now? Instead of demanding that 'all angst stops this moment!', we should turn this to our advantage.
Get out there and promote the Abbey ways IC, people! :)
