Hi! I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to change my character's description. When I try putting in the new one using the lsedit, the one old still appears. I would be much obliged if someone could help me. Thanks!

I just have a question. If there was to be one MP this year... what would you want it to be? The woodlander/vermin war that was discussed? Something centered around Redwall? What?? Suggestions please. There needs to be more going on, and I'm having trouble thinking of ideas for any group I'm part of. TPs for any group, an MP... please comment. Thankee.

I just added a new page to the Ruingate site: Ruingate Diplomacy. I basically listed out my opinions on the relations between groups, sorted by group and then by IC/OOC. I wanted other groups to look at it too, because maybe we can get some ideas flowing about inter-group RPs. We can't just hide in our own separate corners forever. Thankee.

Just wondering really, but I would like to know how many would be offended of a Christian group on the MUCK. Seeing as we have Knights of the Godess and all...I've just been wondering how interesting a Paladinish group would be. Some group associated with the God of Christianity, not to the point of invading privacy on the muck(converting I guess) but just as an interesting rp group. Is anyone against that?

Group Forming

I'm looking for experienced role-players to join a new group. It's called Elleharti, and the concept behind it is this: a group of woodlanders were pushed off their land by a band of vermin, and now live as outlaws in Elleharti Forest. They've built a complex, hidden village of underground hideouts and tree houses, which can only be entered by players we have been OOCly added to a list.
Elleharti started out as a completely military group, but it has recently grown into a village, and its members are now divided. Will they continue to wage guerilla warfare against the vermin who stole their lands, or will they settle down in their new home in the forest? All the while, the threat of a vermin attack looms in the background.
The vermin belong to the new group Chrysos. You might have seen the name on the "where" list recently. Both the Chrysos and Elleharti regions are ready for role-play, but Elleharti needs two more players to pledge their membership before we can have the area linked to the IC world. If you would like to explore the Elleharti/Chrysos area, page me, and I’ll +summon you so you can OOCly look around. You’re most likely to catch me between 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., and between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., CST. See you at Elleharti!

I want to start a "Dibbun's Association". There would be sects in each major RP area. Would that be fun? Obviously, they'd only be connected OOCly, but some ideas could be thrown around in the Dibbun population. Any interest? I won't bother creating the group if people aren't interested.

Hullo. Recently, I've been building a maze (basically for fun), and I started wondering if there was a way to use the +lock code to a lock a exit/entrance so that you need a "Key" object to pass through it. Is this possible? If so, what is the syntax?

ThiS Aint Ninian's

Well, the Saint Ninian's area has been locked for a very long time (If memory serves, it was locked sometime around last winter or so). Recently, it's been reopened, but it seems to have undergone some very drastic changes. The new additions are:
A library, complete with ancient texts, mostly ruined. A kitchen. A Fellowship Hall. A dormitory hall. Catacombs. A path in the churchyard that seems to lead nowhere, and a bell tower.
While change is all well and good, Ninian's falls under the catagory of canon areas, and should reflect as closely to the Ninian's in the books as possible. In the books, Saint Ninian's was a small, country church, with a chapel, a small room that serves as the living quarters (where Cluny was sequestered when he was injured), a shed in the back (where the vole family were held prisoner), and a churchyard large enough for a great number of vermin to hang out.
Now, the catacombs and bell tower I recall being there before, but neither were referenced in the books, and they seem somewhat out of place for a small country church. A small loft with a bell would probably work better, and Ninian's already has the graveyard.
The other additions are really out of place for this location. Traditionally, Ninian's has been the run down hideout of more than a few nasty vermin groups, and occasionally the odd poor churchmouse family. It's not meant to be able to house more than a very small number of beasts, and not for an extended period of time. After all, Redwall is just up the road.
As it stands, the Saint Ninian's area in the MUCK is very inaccurate, and as a canon area, it needs to be recognizable as that old rundown church down the road. Does anyone else have opinions about this? Agreements, disagreements, suggestions?

I am not posting this in the group section yet, for I just want to know what people would think. A small group of Woodlanders, all volunteers, with various skills and talents that help other groups out. Sort of like..free mercenaries, though not all fighters. Maybe a few painters, diggers, fishers, ect. A goody goody woodlander group. Maybe stationed around the restored St.Ninians.

Hey, I'll try to keep this short. I have a habit of ranting and raving in posts. You might know me as the person who plays the shrewmaid Lassik, the vixen Syrva Frostpaw, Cutthroat the rat or Jaskyr Autumnfur the squirrel mercenary. Or, you may not know me at all. Quite possible, since I've only been here a few days and I'm only on in the evenings my time. ... Whoops. I'm rambling already. Anyway, I haven't been here long, but it doesn't take long to realize that a MUCK like this one can take up a lot of your time, and right now I don't have a lot of extra time to give. I'm currently in the danger zone for grades in school, and I'll need to dedicate as much time as possible to bringing those grades up and actually pass.
In short, I'm going to be scarce or not here at all for a while. Whether it's only a few days or the next few months, I can't say. But I can say I have every intention of coming back, and my first intention is to organize a Guosim! Yes, once again we will hear the cries of "Logalogalogalogalog!" on the wind! Errm... yeah, that's all. I'll see you all soon. ^_^

Go to Moledeep Home for more information.
To get to Moledeep on the Redwall MUCK from the Portal: PEM - S - S - S - TC
Moledeep is looking for members. Even just creating an alt mole character or two and exploring Moledeep would be great. Moledeep has a lot of potential to become as well-known as Redwall Abbey. Near the re-developing Borckhall, Moledeep could be a source of aid and great RPing to all who are interested.
Any questions, please page-mail me or email me at pmueller@charter.net

I write this because many are blaming themselves for their group not going well..let me say this right out, it is not your fault, the problem isn't that someone doesn't want to rp with you or in your group most of the time. I belive that have the problem is not enough people ARE playing the muck as a whole. We should try to get links on other redwall sights, players home pages, rpg sites, anything, we should get the muck active before we worry about our own groups.

Vehicles and #boarding.

Hallo, just like to ask a quick question. Does anyone happen to know how to set a vehicle so that anyone (that is, people other than the owner) can #board it etc? I have a feeling it's some kind of +lock whatsit and I saw something about this particular function being down on vehicles a month or two ago. It's rather difficult to obtain tutorials or information on creating and doing things to vehicles - at least I found it so - so perhaps this could be remedied in some way? Thanks for your time.

New group idea.

So! Earlier in the school semester, I happened to read a novel for a class, The Name of the Rose, and it caught my interest. Basically, it's all about religious minorities/factions, and it's really quite interesting to read. So, this got me thinking about a new group to make on the MUCK, since the novel and the MUCK are loosely based on the same time period - the middle ages. So, here we go.
First, some backstory:
Approximately ten-fifteen (possibly even twenty, if ten-fifteen isn't far enough back not to mess with the recent IC history of the abbey) seasons ago, before the earthquake and before the current dark times fell upon Redwall Abbey, the Order of Mice was still a presence in the Mossflower area. In fact, there were many members, and it is thus not surprising that some conflict between these learned creatures would arise. In fact, there were a few that held central beliefs that were quite opposite to those of the traditional Order. They disagreed with the current state of the Order and often their theories about the difference (or lack thereof, as they would maintain) between woodland and vermin species led them into opposition with the other members of the Order and abbey, who were occasionally quite prejudiced. Thus, it was with great resignation that a small group of members (including a couple brothers and sisters and a few impressionable novices) left the abbey.
[Now, I'm guessing you know where this is going. Basically, it's a small faction of the Redwall Order, and is /not at all an attempt to replace the old one/. Here's my disclaimer: Adso (that being my character in the group) does. not. want. to. be. abbot. /I/ do not want to be abbot because that would be too much work on top of the Long Patrol.]
Ahem. Now that that's done. I'm still looking for a home base for the group, but I'm welcoming anybody interested in being involved. It would be best if original characters were made for it, but newcomers to the group ICly would be welcome, so alts could be used. Mind you, this is going to be a small group, since it started out as such.
Anyway, anyone interested is welcome to contact me as Zoe_Lang or Adso. Thanks!

When we were discussing the outlook of Redwall MUCK last night, many people seemed to think that tutorials and workshops would be useful to everyone. Therefore, as I said I would, I created a new page that will once I'm done have several online tutorials. This isn't to replace any in-game work that needs to be put in, but I thought it would be a start.
And here is my pathetic attempt at a tutorials page... still in progress.

A Possible Group Idea.

There are a few Pirate groups on the muck, some more active then others, but they are there. I think great rp oppertunities are really with this, but few can be reached at the present time.
To help out I was thinking of making a group sort of like a small navy, possibly one ship, which can be called many name, the freedom, the Royal, or even a past pen and paper rpg ship of mine, the Alexia. This will be a mostly good woodlander group with a ship that is equiped to fight and squables will ensue between them and Vermin pirate groups.
Please respond your thoughts, maybe I will actually make the group if enough people seem to like the idea.

Well, here goes. I have to say I've never done anything like this before, but I want to try. Not this weekend, (I'm going to be in Charleston, SC... yay!) but the weekend after... May 8th, I think. I'm going to hold a RP workshop for anyone who wants to come. Old, new, just come and have some fun. We'll start out RPing, and then discuss things as they come up. Etiquette, posing, maybe get into fun character accents. We'll just see how it goes. As soon as I get back from vacation I'll schedule it and post it on the MOTD as well as here. I don't know if it will be Saturday or Sunday, or what time it will be.

Minor Suggestion/Question

I was just curious if there's any reason in particular why snakes and adders aren't playable species on the MUCK. Seems to me like they'd present a few interesting roleplay opportunities, although that may just be me. Anyway, just my two cents.
