Infirmary RP

Infirmary RP from a few days ago.

Characters involved: Sundew, Lumar, Audri.

Lumar is sitting up in his cot, taking advantage of the fact that a healer isn't around to gripe at him. He's reading a book, probably one he got a hare nurse to get for him.

Sundew pokes her head around the infirmary door, anxious as to how the young rabbit is faring after yesterday's ordeal. Her anxious frown turns to a suppressed smile as she sees Lumar sitting up and reading. Glancing about the room, she notices the absence of any healers, and pads over to the cot. "Shouldn't you be resting, recovering from your near-death experience and all that, m'lad?" she chuckles. "Came t'see how you were feeling, although evidently I was too worried.."

"'a, 'oo in dewe?" Audri pokes her head around the door curiously, ears falling as Dark isn't seen. Sighing, the kit hobbles in with the aid of her crutch, dragging her satchel behind her while she goes off towards a cot. Ho hum.

Lumar smiles up at the Colonel, giving a light salute before going back to his book. "He can't speak.", a passing hare nurse informs the colonel, before going on to her errands.

Sundew's brow furrows as she digests this piece of information. Leaving Lumar to it for a while, she sidles over to the doe nurse. "What's wrong with 'im? I mean, I know he suffered a lot yesterday, I was there but..I mean.. specifically?" she questions her, glancing over to the door and offering a small smile as she notices Audri hobbling in.

Audri's ears perk up, the kit waving to Sundew, deciding to hobble over towards her, dragging her satchel along for the ride. She stops a few few away from the colonel, waiting patiently for her to stop talking with the nurse.

"The young un's pipes were all scratched up an' torn by the sand he sucked up, ma'am, his lungs are pretty scratched up too..." The hare nurse replies, gesturing to Lumar. The rabbit dibbun flips a page in the book he's reading, the title of which appears to be Battle Tactics and Strategems.....

Sundew raises her eyebrows at Lumar's choice of leisurely reading, but continues to pester the nurse, fiddling with her tunic as she does so. "But..when'll he recover? Will be alright? He..he's not gone mute forever, is he?" She asks the last question more to herself, really, alarmed at the prospect, and surprised at herself for feeling so agitated. Heh. Sundew? Compassion? Never!

Audri continues to wait patiently, though she's starting to fidget some behind Sundew.

Lumar continues to read, very interested in his book. He waves over a hare nurse and gestures as if drawing something, to which the nurse brings him some implements with which to write. Immediately the rabbit begins drawing something on a piece of parchment, as well as a bit on the book itself...

The harenurse frowns and looks at her footpaws, "That's the thing, miss....We don't know...He may be mute forever, or might start speaking tommorow...."

Sundew has nothing else to say. Thinking over this, she knaws at her bottom lip, turning away from the doe nurse. Sighing, she straightens herself out, turning her attention to Lumar and Audri. "G'day, missie," she smiles cheerily at the squirrel dibbun, seating herself on the edge of Lumar's cot. "S'gotta be a laugh in here, eh, young 'un?" she remarks quietly to the rabbit, inaudible to the nurses.

Audri grins, plopping down on the stone floor, staring up at Sundew. "'ewwo! 'ave 'oo seen 'awk 'wound? Ah izza wookin fow 'im."

Lumar looks up at the Colonel, marking his spot in his book and setting it down. He would like nothing better to reply with a laugh of his own,...but is unable to. He smiles,...but his smile soon turns to a frown and he goes quickly back to his book...

Sundew shakes her head in response to Audri's question, having taken a while to mentally dissect her dibbun-speak. "Sorry, little 'un..I haven't seen him since yesterday. I'll tell him you were lookin' for 'im, if'n I sees him, hows about that?" She leans back against the bed-frame, frowning at Lumar. "Blimey, mate, wish there was somethin' I could do fer ye.. me an' Dark were sore worried yesterday.."

Audri nods, though she's frowning now. "'ay. Fank 'oo." She mumbles quietly, going off to hobble back out the hall again.

Lumar seems to think for a minute, before he sets down his book, looking up at Sundew, he smiles widely again and hugs her. After all, she saved his life, and at the moment, he's unable to thank her otherwise...

Staring, with a smile, after the hobbling squirrel dibbun, leaving rather abruptly, Sundew is slightly taken aback at such a display of affection from Lumar, unused to hugging and whatnot. Awkwardly at first, she pats his back and clears her throat a bit. Eventually, she is able to return the hug properly, tweaking the rabbit's ear as they pull apart, in acknowledgement to his gesture of thanks. "Don't you worry, matey, you'll be spicker n spanner than the spickest of hares, and that's with you bein' a rabbit and all, wot!" she chuckles, rising from the bed and preparing to leave. "I'll pay y'another visit tomorrah or the day after, alright?"

Lumar smiles and nods, giving the colonel another hug. He feels quite cooped up in here, but is glad to have visitors, and he knows he has to get better before anything else. So, he seems resigned to staying in the cot, and reading his book. Speaking of which, the old manuscript is laying open at the marked page, with revisions made to a few of the diagrams.
