Redwall MUCK Review Part 2

A review of the redwall MUCk, by Nutclaw.

Further north we leave the fringes of Mossflower woods and come to the wide Broadstream river, located just south of the river and situated within some peaceful woodlands is the thriving community of Mapleleaf formally Noonvale from the book Martin the Warrior. The town is an active place and there are generally a goodly number of players about the town who are willing to roleplay. The town is ruled over by the beaver mayor Loial aided by the town council, which includes Summerhaze the towns skipper of otters, Deepspine the village cook, Harend the Master Smith, D'artagnan the Master of the Guard, Karla the head Dibbun caretaker from the Orphanage and Slayen the retired master healer. They are generally the beast people to page and ask to join up though any member of Mapleleaf will be happy to invite you on in. Vermin, woodlander, warrior or orphan all are welcome as long as they wish to live in peace and abide by the few simple rules of the town to aide the citizens in their goals of a peaceful existence.

If we head further north however we come to the Vermin city of Ruingate, one of the more active vermin groups of the muck Ruingate is a place were any player with an vermin character of questionable character and personality can find a welcome home. Roleplay is often and varied and the city is ruled by the Lord regent Merdez and his family and closest aides, players are free to create their own RP within the city, the RP is welcoming and encouraged, All members are usually willing to help out a visitor who are considering joining and wish to just get a feel for the place. However as is to be expected from a city whose population is mostly vermin and not the nicest bunch of vermin in the world either the name Ruingate is whispered in corners and muttered with suspicion by woodlanders and vermin from other communities as well? The leaders may not intend to invade and subdue their neighbours but the suspicion remains and the worry of hostilities can lead to interesting RP and interactions between the different groups.

Two more places to note on the muck are the Castle Floret in the kingdom of Southsward in the far south and the tropical island of Sampetra home of the monitor lizards. Castle Floret has stood quiet for some time but has recently been renovated and given a shake up and to the horror and fear of the citizen’s history is repeating itself. The squirrel kings have been displaced and vermin have taken up residence within the ancient walls of the castle. It may appear to be a charming, welcoming castle when seen from a distance but inside the castles cruel masters hold the kingdom under their sway.

Out in the tropical seas Sampetra raises from the waves, the home of the lizards under their sly Lord Xalios and his first advisor the malicious and evil Tre’Kilat. Supported and backed up by the reptilian citizens and their vermin allies they are beginning to make those beasts who live upon the seas fear the sight of a ship crewed by lizards. They are not outright pirates but under the dictates of their lord Xalios they are making their presence felt upon the waves and have made it clear to all that the might of Sampetra should not be questioned or force will be used.

So there you have it a brief tour of Redwall muck, its history, its players and their characters and the major groups and places where the role-play happens. From the peaceful cloisters of Redwall Abbey to the vermin filled streets of Ruingate, interactions between the groups occurs often and roleplay can usually be found in locations around the muck throughout most of the day. New players are welcomed with open arms by players and staff alike. So if you enjoy Brian Jacques work and like the idea of meeting other fans and joining in the vast and exciting world of Redwall Muck take a look at the primary Muck website at http://redwall.muck.limitless.org and take a browse. All the information you could want from getting started and creating a character to the group pages and help files on muck commands are available there.

If you do decide to join us and wish to get in contact with one of the leaders of one of the various groups I’ll leave a list here of their names on the muck which is the easiest way to contact them, though as I said in general any player from any group is usually more then happy to help out a new player to the world.
