Group Spotlight

An interview with Matrim, leader of Mapleleaf. See +groups on the muck to see how your group is doing!

Q: How Long Have you been working on mapleleaf?
A: Approx. 2 Years

Q: About how many members have joined over those two years, counting those who may have left or killed off their characters.
A:I'd say somewhere between 160-170.

Q: About how many of those members left because of you or your alts?
A:Very few.

Q:Is there anything you'd like to say about why you are so successful with Mapleleaf?
A:Patience is a big thing. Hard work. Being around often helps. Recruiting often is a big thing in succeeding with a group. Many TP ideas. Including /everyone/ in the group making them feel welcome and useful is definatly a good thing. Choosing reliable and understanding leaders is also a must for any group. Advertisment helps a lot. Keeping the website up to date and looking good helps too.  Giving people a chance to join to see what happens and having a variety of rp angles is a good thing.
Being a leader is a lot of hard work. A lot of patience is needed. Accepting newer players is definatly a good thing and appealing. Some can lead very well. Others it is much harder. I've had my ups and downs about leading. It takes a lot of time and effort to get a group to grow and to be very successful. Sometimes you get lucky. Also, I know many people who make new chars for the group including myself. Many different types of rp come. Got to spice things up upon occasion. Explaining how to lead..is difficult. To some it just comes naturally. Others learn in time. Explaining how I lead is hard. I just...lead.

Q:Can you give me a few examples of soem TP that are useful for recruiting, but don't get boring if they're used a lot?
A:A example? Feasts do help but can get rather boring /but/ throwing in some conflict (dibbuns crashing the party, starting a food fight, someone getting drunk and starting a brawl are good ideas)

Q:Are there any more tips you would like to give to new group leaders before the interview is over?
A:Be patient and understanding. Kind and have a good heart. Let the rp revolved around the players and participate as well, letting the group shine as a whole. If someone is upset, speak with them about it. Let them know you are there to help and be there when needed.
