Of Unarmed Defense, and Angry Zeraph Thence
Darklett has just finished up teaching up some more recruits on how to defend themselves when left unarmed. Of course, there are two or three walking away rubbing arms and sides, where the major evidently taught them a few lessons the physical way. :P "Well, that's more of what your combat teachers didn't show you, thanks for showing interest. Keepin' my eye out..." he informs them as they walk away, then looks down at his training sword, heading for the weapons rack.
The door is swung open a bit more roughly than usual as Zeraph steps through from the hall into the training room, tugging at one pocket on his tunic roughly. This seems to be a twitchy, preoccupied action, ears flickering back as he watches the recruits with a distant look. It appears that the Lieutenant is thinking hard on something else, staring at the floor after a moment and shifting towards Darklett.
Darklett's ears twitch at the swinging door, and he turns, just about to put away the sword, but halting as he spots Zeraph. "Hey, Zer!" He smirks, and walks away from the rack, still holding the weapon. "Haven't seen you in a couple days, how've you..." He inspects the Lieutenant's apparent mood, and slows his walk. "...Been?"
"I've been, weird it's just that.. hm. Uh." Raph doesn't seem quite sure what to say, as if his mind is too preoccupied with other things. Finally he glances up from the floor to look over Darklett. The sword is noted. "You wanting to.." And with that he trails off.
Darklett nods. "Sure, if you're up to it!" He raises the sword, placing one edge of it towards his shoulder. "Come on, it'll be a good way to let whatever's on your mind off, how about it?" The major grins, stepping towards the other hare and giving him a quick buffet on the upper arm.
Zeraph rubs his arm after he is hit there, contemplating with a furrowed brow, then he shrugs. "I..guess." The buck doesn't even go to get another sword. He just kind of stands there with a confused squint, before shifting back away from Darklett somewhat, as if ready.
Darklett's ears fold over, the major looking over his shoulder towards the weapon rack briefly, before they perk back up, his smirk spreading into a grin. "Alright, I see. I was just teaching some recruits this stuff, should be fun to see if they taught you anything -proper...-" He lowers into his stance, using both paws for his grip, raising it offensively and shifting slowly towards the other. "Ready?"
A moment of pause is given, then Raph shrugs and nods at the same time, still distracted. He goes to copy Dark's stance just out of instinct, waiting for the other officer's attack. The Lieutenant appears to almost stare through the older buck as he begins to shift backward away from his movements forward.
"Good... Hey, cheer up, this is supposed to be fun!" Darklett winks at the fellow fighter Long Patroller. "Now come on, look like you mean it... Ha!" He charges a few paces, then lunges forward, swinging the training sword down and in a spiral, swinging at the buck's lower ribs.
Zeraph is about to respond, mouth even opening a little, until the buck lunges at him. His first instinct is to falter to the side, but then he moves forward quickly, to try and make the swing pretty much useless. Though his first movement means that the fighter does this too late, and gets it raked across his ribs.
Darklett jumps backward as soon as the hit connects, shaking his head and 'tsk'ing to Zeraph. "Hey, you're gonna have to chin up. You gotta be faster than that..." He winks, and lunges forward again, going for a quick duck and a jab to the stomach.
Zeraph hops back, then turns away from the first movement. However, it seems that this isn't even an attack and only a duck. The Lieutenant is stabbed hard in the stomach. His lurch backward to try and get away from it causes him to stumble and fall heavily upon his rump, panting somewhat. The buck's ears twitch backward and he shakes his head rapidly, blinking in a dazed manner.
Darklett jumps back from the downed lieutenant again, loosening up. "Zeraph. Come on, you're not yourself... Get up, go get yourself a sword, this advantage's too much, apparently..." He snickers playfully, and gets in his stance again. "C'mon, you see if you can get past my sword and hit me this time."
Zeraph stares blearily at the ground as his paws clench. "It's...it's not too much." He fairly growls, going to push up from the ground in a more determined way, the dazed look that was just in his eyes clearing up somewhat. "Okay.." The officer has his paws in fists now.
Darklett grins at Zeraph, now that he's evidently got him -into- training a bit. "What, were you expecting me to go easy? Heh." He flicks his swordtip up a few times in beckoning the lieutenant. "Come on, I'm ready for ya... Anytime..."
Zeraph scowls at Darklett, looking hurt as he moves to circle closer to the other officer, even though there is still part of him that appears far away. "Fine." The buck bolts forward, going to dodge around to the side of Dark, not as fast as he can, and swing a punch at his face.
Darklett ducks off to the side of the incoming attack, his back leaning out as he lowers his sword to block anything low, the fist of the lieutenant going a comfortable few inches in front of his nose. At the moment, he makes no move to get any incredible distance between himself and the lieutenant.
Getting frustrated easily and quickly at this moment, Zeraph scowls when his punch doesn't connect and his fists clench more. So he steps in closer to throw a left at the other buck's nose, before a right hook swings out quickly after. The officer is starting to move quicker, and put strength into his movements.
Darklett's confident smirk goes away quite quickly, as he leans back to avoid the first punch, then almost has to fall backwards to keep the second from connecting. "Woah! Zer, calm down, this is just..." He tries to step backwards a few times to get out of range. "Practice, pull those punches..."
Zeraph pauses for a moment, one paw flexing in and out of a fist as he tenses, glaring at the ground. He starts to calmly step towards the Major, about to say something, but then something just appears to snap. It wouldn't be quite visible, if he didn't go to punch Dark in the nose as hard as he can at the exact same instant, the look in his eyes completely different. Hatred of something.
Looking relieved that Zeraph has stopped, Darklett lowers his sword. "Well, feel better?" The major starts to chuckle, before his eyes widen, and he cringes, turning his head to the side just enough to avoid a direct connection with his nose, but the front of the side of his muzzle takes the hard crack, and he stumbles backwards, bringing both paws, one now swordless, up. "Zer, hey-..."
Zeraph is completely upset about /something/ this time, and Dark has been targeted as the reason for all of his problems it seems. The fighter lunges forward, to just slam Darklett forcefully against the wall, if he can get a hold of him. Too bad he didn't see a punching bag before the other..
Darklett lets out a hard grunt as the other hare collides with him, sending him into the wall, stunning the major briefly, his back and head hitting the hard surface firmly. If he weren't being held up by Zeraph, he'd probably try to get away, the major tugging away before giving a glare to Zeraph. "Quit it, Zer!"
"Shut up." Is snapped quietly at Darklett, like a low, hissing-growl. But it is firm still. Raph goes to just slam the smaller buck again, which would mean pulling him away from the wall just slightly for a second. After this, he'd aim to start wailing on him with the one fist, while keeping him up with the other. It is unclear if he even still recognizes Darklett anymore, for the expression on his face. Almost like he is just vermin.
Darklett coughs out loud, the second slam against the wall making him lose his breath, the lieutenant's first few punches landing uncontested, crunching into his jaw, nose, and the side of his head. He groans, finally raising his paws up to defend himself, one more punch glancing off his forearms to connect with his forehead, the major slumping against the wall, only upright because Zeraph holds him that way, his arms blindly blocking at the assault coming from the other hare.
Zeraph pauses because of the blocking, only to send a few more of the heavy punches at Darklett's stomach and side area, having to go under his raised forearms to do this. The hare clenches his eyes tightly shut, then just goes to throw him across the room as hard as he can, though only slinging with the one arm that he is holding Darklett with.
Darklett tries to lower his paws to block the continued punches, but again, the few punches all connect before he can successfully block any of them, the major winded, surprised, and hurt, trying futilely to defend himself against the unexpected attacker... As he's thrown, he lands in a heap on the floor, a choked groan of pain coming from the back of his throat as he starts to slowly get up.
Zeraph slams backward against the wall himself, looking frustrated and paws clenching alternatively as he grunts unhappily. The buck's arm muscles shake and he screams out, having to bend to get the complete affect of it. A moment of heavy panting breaths follow this snap, and then he makes his way for Dark again, to kick him in the side/stomach as he starts to get up. With a barked curse.
Darklett keeps trying to get up, clenched eyes staring at Zeraph with a mix of incredulous surprise and fear... A bit of blood drips from his nose, and he gets to paws and knees, his ears picking up on the running towards him, the major looking back towards Zeraph, and grabbing the kicking footpaw, rolling onto his back, and pulling hard to try and toss the lieutenant off balance, not letting go.
There is a look of surprise on Zeraph's face for only a moment as he is actually caught, then the Lieutenant is tumbled over Darklett's form so that he slams on his back. He goes to instinctively ram his elbow at the Major's eye to get him to let go.
Darklett tugs on the leg he's grabbed to try and pull Zeraph towards him so he can restrain him, but this only makes the elbow come at him that much more unavoidably, missing his eye, but connecting with the bridge of his muzzle, the hare halted in his attempt, letting go of the leg, and lifting a paw to grab the hit section of his snout... Before, after the pause, he lifts both paws to try and grab the lieutenant's arms.
For some reason, even though Zer is raging unhappily, his arms are caught easily enough as he seemed to be more intent upon the releasing of his leg. The officer struggles, with a snarl and his ears pin. "Let. Me. Go." He goes to ram his knee into Darklett's side, as that is about all he can do.
Darklett grips hard at Zeraph's arms, looking the lieutenant in the eyes. "Zeraph... Zeraph, get a hold o-UFF!" He lets go of the other buck, grabbing at his side and huddling over, trying to catch his breath.
Zeraph moves to roll over immediately so that he can grab his shoulder's and throw a head-butt to the other officer's forehead. After this, he would crush all his weight down on Darklett's upper body, to attempt to keep him from getting air. Apparently to make him either pass out or kill the other, one arm very close to his neck.
Darklett can't do much in his state to stop Zeraph, pinned down to the floor. "Zeraph," he chokes out, before the breath is pushed out of him again, the hare struggling to breathe, the skull of the other buck colliding with his making his eyes roll back in his head briefly, the blows landed on him, plus the asphyxiation, rendering the major limp on the floor, his eyes starting to close.
Zeraph keeps a good held down position on the Major, glaring angrily down at his victim in anger. Clear hated, anger. For the moment there is nothing said or no other movement. Just waiting.
Darklett looks as if he starts to panic in his weakened state, his paws moving up to try and get the lieutenant off him... But the struggles just go, and Darklett lies still, eyes closed, head rolled to the side.
Zeraph waits for a moment, then he gets off of Darklett, staring down at him in that hard, glaring fashion. After a while of thought, the Lieutenant goes to grab the Major's arm and just drag him out of the room with him. Regardless of danger. The hare seems to have completely lost his mind. Who knows what he plans on doing with the other officer. It is certain he probably doesn't know himself. And with that, it is all over.
