Guess what? Cad's out marten and vermin hunting as usual. Shoulder throbbing badly, the shrew peers through the dense forest, gripping his spear tightly. Muddied, camouflaged and quiet he simply waits for evil to emerge. So he can kill it.

Patrolling again... Mmhmm. Belliger's brought friends this time, he learned from previous experience. He decided that this would be a foot patrol, as paddling upriver would just create extra trouble for them should anything happen. Besides, losing ANOTHER logboat (they let that one kinda drift off, didn't they?) would be bad.

Josh just follows behind the two quietly. His paw is rests on his sling as his eyes scan the riverbank for an unfriendly types.

Just upstream the sound of offkey humming can be heard as Fang makes his way down the river. He's carrying a bag of 50 gold pieces with a free paw on his saber completely unaware of the shrews up ahead.

Just staying where he is, very well hidden Cad watches the other shrews wondering what they are doing. He stays low to the ground in the foliage, hidden behind trees and bushes. Catching Fang from the corner of his eyes, the crazy shrew grins.

Aidre hails the familiar-looking shrew. "Hello there, eh ..." What was his name again? She vaguely remembers asking for it. And then she had nodded off.

Belliger's ears perk at the humming, and he jumps into the forest undergrowth, staying low... "Cad?" He spots the other shrew-in-hiding. "Yer injured, wot th'... Ah, ferget it." He peeks his head up to spy on Fang as he walks downstream, and Aidre isn't hailed in return, of course. :)

Josh follows suit and dives into the undergrowth as well. XD The shrew pulls out his sling and a stone just incase its needed.

Fang, the stupid vermin that he is, continues his humming before chuckling to himself. "This slave business ain't so bad. Got a good deal on that little fiery shrew." His path is leading him straight for an ambush.

Grabbing a stone from the ground, Cad throws it down the path trying to get Fang's back to turn.

Aidre drops her paw from its lazy wave and stands perfectly still. Her eyes flick swiftly about in assessment. Just what had she walked into?

Belliger sees Cad throw the stone. Hmm, how cunning. "Cad!" He whispershouts from the undergrowth, trying to get the murderous shrew's attention.

Josh glances at Cad as he throws and then to Belliger, "Want me ta send of a stone and knock 'im out?"

Fang stops as he hears a sound behind him. Tightening the grip on the saber's blade, he slowly glances over his shoulder. Seeing nothing that could cause a threat, he continues on his was a bit more cautious now.

Belliger shakes his head at Josh. "Nah, need ta question 'im... can't take any risks o' death." He continues watching Fang, and slumps a bit as he doesn't turn around completely. "Bu' where's Lassik...?"

And Fang now has a Cad charging at his belly holding the spear tightly. The shrew tries to get the upper paw with suprise, and skewer the vermin.

Josh nods but frowns at Cad's outburst from the foilage and his death charge toward Fang. Shaking his head, he starts to swing his sling and lets the stone fly towards Cad's head trying to knock him out before he kills Fang.

Fang stops again as he sees the charging shrew come straight for him with a spear. Not good at all. Drawing his saber, Fang steps out of the way of the charge ready for battle.

With Cad charging, the sling stone misses him but hits the back end of his spear knocking it from his paws. Surprised, and with the momentum still going, he's still moving quite fast..right at Fang. Uh-oh.

Belliger curses... Quite loudly, too. Jumping out of the undergrowth with short sword drawn, Belliger screams the Guosim war cry at the top of his lungs: "LOGALOGALOGALOG!" Aaaaaaaaand he's bearing down on Cad and Fang fast. He has to get there before anybeast DIES.

Josh follows Belliger with his rapier drawn. The shrew's not much on battle cries so he just races into the melee about to happen.

Since Fang had start moving out of the way, Cad just knocks into his side making him stumble slightly. Growling, the ferret swings his blade down right towards Cad's back.

The shrew falls to his chest, the sword cutting his cloak and tunic and nicking his back. Cadogan tries to catch his breath and roll onto his back being prone, drawing his daggers in the process. "Yah bastiche! I'll kill yah and yer entire fam!"

"No' yet, Cad! No' yet!" Belliger is now very very near the ferret, who now has his back turned. Because of his advantage, Belliger swings the hilt of his sword upward to try and hit him in the side of the head, to knock him to the ground.

Josh kinda just stops and pulls out his sling and another stone. He stands ready to throw it if necessary.

Fang kicks at Cad as he rolls over, "Oh shut up shrew. You're going to be joining yer fri..." And then the sword hilt hits him causing him to stumble backwards but not to the ground.

The kick barely misses and now Fangs got Cad on his footpaws and diving at his belly, slicing like crazy with a dagger in each paw, his bad shoulder wound re-opening and the scent of blood filling the air.

Ok this is a psycho shrew. Fang gets knocked down to the ground with Cad on top of him. Fang blocks his onslaughts with his saber blade as he aims a punch at Cad's head with his free paw.

The shrew goes to slam a dagger and twist it into Fang's belly! Cad gets hit and knocked off the beast, flat on his back dazed and growling.

Belliger stays back, as he can't do much in this position that wouldn't kill Fang... But then Cad gets knocked off, so the shrew goes to point the blade of his short sword at Fang's neck. "Stop!"

The dagger hits its mark and Fang growls in pain but stops his attempt to rise as the sword appears by his neck.

"Lemme at'm! I'll kill them! For Salena an' Sasha an' Lassik!" Cadogan snaps out, slowly getting up and goes to grab his spear and press the tip of it under Fang's muzzle near Belliger if not stopped.

Josh appears behind Cad wrapping his paws about him in a means to stop the shrew. "Calm down Cad. Bell wants to talk with 'im first. Ye can kill 'im in a bit. Sides your shoulder needs tendin'."

Turning, Cad growls at Josh. "Don't touch me."

Josh just gives Cad a grin tightening his hold. "Can't do that. Sash be upset if ya get yerself killed mate. I'll let ya go when Bell is done talkin' with the ferret there."

Growling, Cadogan tries to knee Josh in the gut and slam a elbow at his jaw. "Get yer arse away from me!"

Belliger holds short sword tip at Fang's throat, but turns his head to Cad. "Shut up fer a secon'! Ye can' kill this ferret, er else we may ne'er see Lassik again!" He then kneels down next to the ferret, holding the blade close to his throat. "Where's she?"

Josh takes the blows but he doesn't release his grip.

Cadogan keeps swinging at Josh like some crazed beast.

Fang chuckles to himself as he recognizes Belliger ignoring his question because hey he's going to die anyway so why answer him. "Eh...yer that shrew's mate ain't ya. The one I sold for the gold. Fiery one she was."

Josh just takes the assault from Cad keeping a firm grip on him.

Belliger presses the blade into Fang's throat. "Who'd ye sell 'er to? Answer!"

Tired, angry and upset, Cadogan just slumps down. "..stupid bastiches. All of them vermin scum. Kill'm all for Salena, Sasha an' the Log-a-Log. I'll do it..I'll do it..." He actually begins to sob. Yeah. He's cracked.

The blood is really seeping out of Fang's wound as he chuckles some more. "Why should I tell ya? I'm dying so any o' yer threats won't matter ta me."

Belliger bites his lip, seeing Lassik fade away before his very eyes. In a very gutsy move, the shrew withdraws his blade, and sheathes it. "Please..." He pauses, biting harder on his lip before continuing. "Who did you sell her to?"

Josh starts to drag Cad backwards as he starts to break down. The shrew's eye is starting to swell shut as he talks. "Sure ye will Cad but first I'm taking ya back to Sasha. Ya could do with seein' 'er pritty face. Might get ya back to normal or somethin'."

"Iffn you don't I'll make yer death a lot slower and more painful." Cadogan snarls, staring at Fang. "Yeah know what a spear feels like shover through yer chest nice and slow? Like a hot knife intah buttah. Covering the wound in salt tah add to the agony." He stares at Fang, eyes narrowed. "Yah tell use where the Log-a-Log is, or the last thing yah'll see is my spear scum." He looks up at Josh. "She bloody hates me an' tah go back without Lassik ain' honorable, leaving her to the bloody slavers. She needs a good mah and pah, not me."

Fang just stares over at Cad who is just a wee bit nuts. But as Belliger withdraws his blade, Fang just looks at him before speaking. "Sold 'er to a cat who is in a group called The Black Rose. It was north o' 'ere by the bridge."

Belliger gazes down into the ferret's eyes. "...How much?"

(EDITOR'S NOTE: I had to go, here, so none of the rest of this was actually logged, just my own continuation. That having been said...)

Fang looks up to the shrew, meekly. "Fifty gold." He cringes, knowing this is a fairly low amount.

Belliger's lip quivers at the number, and he blinks back tears of rage. "Goodbye, vermin..." He stands and starts walking. "Josh, let 'im go, an' foller me. We're goin' t'th'Abbey t'get some answers."

Josh nods to Belliger, and lets Cad go, following Belliger, and not looking back.

Cadogan looks up to the two shrews, then down at his spear lying on the ground next to him... Taking the spear up, he stands and walks over to Fang, holding the spear point downwards. "Scum." Slowly, he lowers the spearhead...

Fang's screams of pain and agony can be heard behind Belliger and Josh, but neither turn to watch. They know, and that's enough for them. The screams finally stop, signalling the end of the ferret. Stone-faced, Belliger walks towards the abbey, Josh following him.
