Vorth Reunion

A clumsy hare makes for a possibly bad day. Involves: Vorth, Zeraph, Daclon, Jarril, Taye, Vansinnig

Halyard Village: Main Street ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Halyard Village ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is the main street of Halyard Village. However, for being the main street, its not terribly impressive. Like most of the rest of the village, the homes and buildings that line this street are sound, at best. The purpose of the architecture is obviously efficiency, not elegance. The buildings are short and squat, none any higher than two levels, and a good few windows are covered in a fine grit; a combination of salt, sand, and dirt. The foremost profession of the village becomes apparent with a simple glance around, fishing nets and other such paraphernalia littering the area out front of many of the buildings. So far as the living component of the street, a few vendors are usually out and about, attempting to sell their products, among them fish and other such foodstuffs, but without much success. It is, after all, a small village. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~ Visible Exits: [W]est [Sq]uare [C]ommunity [T]ax [O]ffice [E]ast [S]quare [T]ide [K]nots [S]ewing [S]hop [K]etay's [H]ome [N]otch's [C]ottage

Vorth is hidden by the shaded side of a building, bow out and arrow upon it as he listens for movement outside in the square.

Zeraph has been set up by the barricade as look out, and he has been watching out for vermin, ears turning this way and that, but right now the buck is seated, back leaned against the make-shift wall, flask held in the one paw. He seems unaware of Vorth's presence.

Vorth moves slightly to direct his one eye in the direction of the hare, big ears moving about to try and hear for anything around the place, looking for a suitable target, got to keep the long ears down.

Zeraph flicks his ear backward too, still trying to keep aware, then the buck stands up, going to heft himself over the barricade, to see if he can see anything, while keeping hunkered to try and remain out of view. The fighter lays his ears back because of this.

Vorth draws his arrow back a bit at the sound of movement, looking over to the barricade, arrow pointed in that direction trying to track the moving hare when he can, he's a patient chap when he has to be.

Zeraph scents the air, nose wiggling up and down as he does so. He has this bad feeling..A smirk forms at the corner of his mouth as he has a crazy idea. The hare slowly gets into position, setting his footpaws firmly against the table he is standing on, then pushing up quickly, perking his ears. This causes a bit of racket, as well as having him bounce up into view.

Vorth shoots off the arrow in his direction quickly as he pops up.

Of course, gravity saves Zeraph as he falls back into his earlier position, but now he knows that there /is/ some beast out there as the arrow flies over head and thuds into a nearby building. The buck decides to check and see how many there are actually before he sounds the alarm, so he goes to scoot to another part of the barricade and climb this area, getting to the top, where he winds up having to jump down on the other side, because of a sliding chair. The fighter ducks into hiding immediately.

Vorth doesn't fire the second time, watching the hare jump up again as he quite calmly selects another arrow and places it on the bow, sticking to the shadows of the building.

Zeraph is now, on main street of course, gazing towards the barricade and chewing on his bottom lip. Great..what's the odds of him getting back to the Western Square without getting hit by an arrow? The fighter picks up a rock and chucks it aimlessly in the direction that Vorth is hiding. It thunks off of the side of the building.

Vorth moves back into the shadows briefly at the rock and gives a slightly irritated flick of the tail at the noise of it hitting the building before he moves in the shadows a little to send an arrow in the hares general direction, moving back towards the building a little more before he selects another arrow.

Zeraph backs up as the arrow hits the building pretty near to him, then bounces off. The fighter sighs and leans his ears back, then picks it up. "Can we talk about this, maybe?!" He finally calls out, paw skimming along the hilt of the large sword on his back.

Vorth draws back his next arrow and points it in the direction of the hare's hiding spot "Sure, what ye got to say?" he calls back, arrow still pointing over, just waiting for sight of the hare.

Zeraph nods and smirks. "Alright...Well, I see no reason for us to both die here..Maybe we can come to an agreement." The fighter glances again at the barricade. For the first time, he wishes he were a runner.

Vorth still keeps the arrow ready "An agreement, interestin' but just 'ho am I about to die 'ere?"

Zeraph shakes his head. "Cause, even if ya shoot me, I won't go down until I'm sure I'm taking you with me." The fighter chuckles, though he is dead serious.

Vorth smirks slightly "Many 'ave tried but I'm still ere, besides I could kill you with the arrow, nice an quick like, couldn't take me with ye then"

Zeraph growls, ears still pinned. "You'd be surprised..And you know, one yell could get the whole bloody patrol over that barricade.." The fighter tightens a grip on his sword, though he still has it sheathed on his back.

Vorth grins, he loves this sort of thing "Aye an' one yell an' you'll be swimmin' in vermin, tis ye own fault ye ended up on the wrong side o' the barricade, ye just go ahead and call ye little friends so some more o' em can die for ye"

Zeraph turns his attention behind him and nods. "Aye, just a moment, perhaps...And Daclon didn't want me dead in the first battle, so what makes you think he'd order me killed now.." The fighter moves in this direction, to try and get to another spot.

Vorth smiles, listening for the hare and trying to follow his movement with the arrow "Ah but he ain't ere now is he? An he ain't told me not to kill ye so he can't blame me if me fingers accidentally slipped an' ye ended up on the end o' an arrow"

Zeraph stays quiet for now as he moves very quietly along to another part of the street, to get to a position where he can see the rat. He inches along side another building a peeks out, then laughs a little. "Vermin...your all the same." The fighter crouches down here. "You sound strangely familiar to me though.."

Vorth looses him only very briefly, big ears, quiet square, not so hard to follow most of the time, looking straight over at the sound of the laugh though and shooting an arrow in that direction, another quickly on the bow again "Do I now? Well I wouldn't know one long ears from the other now would I?"

Zeraph turns his ears back and shakes his head, rolling his eyes. This arrow suddenly sticks into the wall of the other building. The one that he is facing. The fighter blinks. Well..he's pretty good at keeping track of him at least. "I met you in the tavern, when I was a captive there." He states now.

Vorth smiles a little "Really? How is Keita then?" deciding to throw in a bit of knowledge, have some fun, of course the new arrow's still there though.

Zeraph chew his bottom lip again, as he nods, even if Vorth can't see him. "Yes, and Keita is fine..just fine." The buck sighs a little and turns his gaze up to the arrow in the wall.

Vorth smiles still, he's enjoying himself "Such a shame you got out, made such good barkeeps" he sounds quite cheery really.

Zeraph snorts at this comment. "The only thing good about that is I learned a new skill.." His paw is now upon his sword hilt again.

Vorth chuckles "Oh come now, meet a few new beasts, see a bit more, getting stuck around with all those other hares, sure you found something good come from the experience other than learning how to serve ale"

Zeraph squints forward. "Well..besides Keita and Tae, the others were my Long Patrol comrades.." So, they're having a little chat now? The fighter doesn't stand up, but sidles over so he can glance around the building again.

Vorth of course still has the arrow pointed over even if he is having a chat, he doesn't fire this time though, smiling "Oh yes, Tae, I'm assuming she's still around then? Not killed in any battles" he has no idea who Tae is but he's good at hiding things.

Zeraph's whiskers twitch a little. He is judging the distance in between them as he listens, one ear cocked forward. "Hmm...No, she wasn't in any of the battles.." The buck leans back again, thinking about his next move..

Vorth keeps his eye and ears trained on the hare's position, waiting "Hmm, she didn't seem like the fighting type" he says casually, running on pure guesswork to keep the hare a little distracted maybe.

Zeraph turns his ears back now as he thinks about it, then pulls a throwing dagger out of the back of his belt. "What makes you say that?" The fighter questions, probably with the same intention as the rat.

Vorth still smiles, slightly crouched in the shadows with his bow "Oh just an impression I suppose" sounding casual.

Zeraph spins the throwing dagger, nodding. "I guess, though I always figured her for a tough one, if she needed to be.." His ears flicker in anticipation and he breathes out slowly, getting ready for his move.

Vorth draws back the arrow a little more "Ah well that's when she needs to be, other than that she can leave you all to get killed.."

Zeraph counts off in his head. "Well, you obviously don't know her so well." Then the buck jumps out of hiding, making sure he is slightly sideways, and hurls the throwing dagger at the rat, landing hard and making sure to roll, to try and avoid an arrow.

Vorth sees the dagger and rolls to the side quickly leaving it to hit the ground where he was a moment ago before he quickly rights himself and shoots off the arrow at the rolling hare.

Zeraph comes to a halt on his side, an arrow landing in the ground in front of his face. The fighter jumps up, no matter how sore he is, and runs at the rat, yanking the large blade off of his back, to try and cut that bow in half before he'll deal with Vorth himself.

Vorth drops the bow and hops back a step, one sword from his waist and one from his back being drawn before he springs forwards towards Zeraph one sword heading towards the hare's blade the other towards his stomach.

Daclon attracted by the noise, Daclon and two or three other vermin have crawled over the barricade, entering main street as quietly as possible. Now they stop, observing the hare and rat fighting. Whether to intercede or not, is the question now. However, for vermin, that choice isn't going to last long.

Jarril isn't in one of his good moods as first his ears are poking up from above and then the top of his head. "What in the bally....." Frowning slightly. Turning around to another hare. "Get more here just in case, this could set things off." Muttering on putting him on punishment when he gets a paw on him, the major ponders hopping right over.

Zeraph blocks the sword swing that is aimed at his own blade, then has no choice but to jump backward, holding his weapon in both paws. The fighter decides to more play defense in that split second, though his ears turn backward to hear Daclon and the other vermin arrive. Inward cursing and the hare jumps back again, turning to the side to put his back against a wall, so not to be snuck up on, though it'll be harder to escape if he needs to now.

The hare turns and runs back to the barricade, calling out for more hares. Immediately, a group of hares sitting around a fire jump up and head towards main street at a good clip. Taye is among them. Soon, enough, they stop short behind Jarril, eyes surveying the situation.

Vorth advances on the hare, quick flick of the ears to notice the other vermin before he once again attacks, one blade swinging round at the hare's sword again just to keep it busy while the other aim to stab at his shoulder.

Jarril frowns. "I want cover fire and two other hares with me. Time to get him back. When I say go.." The major loads his sling up and then unsheathes his sword.

Zeraph blocks the one sword, knocking it out of it's path, but this means he gets stabbed in the shoulder, deep. The buck just growls and uses the fact that he's pinned to kick at the rat's stomach hard with a footpaw.

Jarril frowns. "Right, seen enough." Nodding to the other two, he just ups and hops right over the barrier with ease, landing onto the ground, the two other landing beside him. "Alright rat, I think ya had enough fun here, doncha think?"

Daclon and his vermin have been more intent on the hares than the fighters, and they begin to line up as well. There are three besides the ferret, one armed with a bow and the other two with swords. As Jarril jumps the barrier, they move closer, keeping to the shadows, where they are almost unnoticeable.

Taye quickly loads his own sling, and much against his own better judgment, in the bustling he is pushed to the front alongside a gruff-looking fighter. And... yes, over they jump. Taye ignores his sling and draws his daggers - he's upgraded to two.

Vorth peels off to the side taking both swords with him and barely avoiding getting winded by Zeraph's kick, side just hit, he hops back a couple of paces at the sight of more hares, sheaving on sword to grab a dagger and sending it quickly for one of the two with Jarril.

Jarril blinks and on instinct lets loose of his sling, flinging the pebble in Vorth's way immediately. The hare to the left of him falls from the blade and he shouts. "Get him back." Taking another step fowards and with one paw, reloads his sling. "Now, shall we start again. I said, that's bally well enough fun for t'day, rat!"

Zeraph stumbles forward as the sword is ripped from his shoulder, holding his heavy sword loosely in the one paw, then glances at Jarril as they move over the barricade. For some reason, the fighter suddenly has a feeling of dread. The major's going to kill him. The buck gives a quick look in Vorth's direction, then goes to run for the other hares.

Daclon steps directly into Jarril's line of sight, followed by the three vermin. "Enough, hare." Smiling at the slight joke he's made, (Okay, it was lame) he takes another step forward. "Fall back, or we'll come forward."

Vorth moves to the side out of instinct as the stone whistles by, he snarls a little but now Daclon's here, sword in one paw and a new dagger in the other, waiting to see what happens now.

Erf! The hare to Taye's left goes down, and at the order from Jarril, he drops down in a crouch and begins tugging the fighter back by the shoulders. When he reaches the barricade with the buck, two other hares take over and drag him behind the barricade. His task done, Taye stands back up and turns, to watch the proceedings, ready to jump forward if any help is needed.

Jarril does stop and gives a smile back to Daclon. "Ah, so ya decided ta show yaself at last?" Not moving, the major decides to talk. "Fine, we talk then ferret. I like ta thank ya on ya idea on sending the badger over. I would've thought ya would've like ta do that yaself."

Daclon grins as Jarril begins to talk. "Yeah, I like ta keep it a surprise." His face darkens to it's usual scowl as the hare finishes his speech. "Anyway, I don' want ta talk. I want ye to get out of this road. -Now-."

Blood runs freely down from Zeraph's shoulder wound and he doesn't move that arm much, though he pauses when he is with the other hares, watching the situation unfold before him. The fighter scowls a bit, and remains quiet, glances down at the blood and the gouge.

Vansinnig had somehow found his way up to the roof of a two story building, still bandaged in certain places from the previous scuffle. Moving to the edge of the building, he stares down on the action. Not seeing whom he was looking for, he grins and shifts his attention to Daclon and Jarril.

Jarril nods slowly at Daclon with a smile. "My, ya do have a temper, don't ya. Can't say I am surprised. What with losing full control of this village and all." Flicking an ear to the other hares to fall back, the major slowly moves backwards. "I am sure we will meet Daclon. Unless ya don't want ta then I suggest ya leave and never come back. All ya have ta do is surrender and give up all of ya weapons." He pauses in a thought of asking something else that he knows but decides to keep that to himself right now.

Vansinnig kicks a shingle over the edge of the building, aiming for Jarril's head. It doesn't really look like he's trying though. He's in no condition to fight. Vansinnig asks, "Oy, hopper, givin' up so easily?"

Daclon shakes his head. "Don' ye get it hare? First, I don' trust ye enough to surrender, second, I'm not givin' up my weapons, an' third-" His voice is cut off as he looks up at Vansinnig.

Zeraph backs up with the others, following the silent order and sheathing his large sword, in favor of holding his paw to his shoulder wound. The hare is gazing downward, looking angry with himself, then turns an ear upward at Vansinnig.

Jarril ignores Vansinnig as if he's of no concern right now but keeps his gaze on Daclon. "Fine, since ya don't trust my word as a officer, I'll take that as an insult. I have ta start thinking on how ta end this in ya way then." Taking an apple out of his pocket, he backs up, he motions for the hares to go back over the barricade and slowly rolls the apple Daclon's way, hoping his point is made clear. "Right, Zeraph, over now, that's an order."

Vansinnig asks, "And so leaves a coward, eh? First, when I were fightin', now, when there's a good ole fashioned battle." A harsh chuckle. "Pathetic."

Zeraph nods respectfully, saluting with a bloody paw to his Major. "Yes, sir." Then the fighter buck gets back over the barricade easily enough, even with his injured arm. He doesn't even glance back at the vermin, landing on his footpaws on the other side and moving back away from the barrier.

Daclon kneels, picking up the apple. He examines it for a second, then stabs his hook into it, flinging the apple in the direction of the hares' barricade. "An insult? I'd remind ye of yer diplomatic mission awhile ago, hare. Ye've given me no reason to trust ye."

Vansinnig crouches down on his haunches, grim amusement clearly in his eyes. "Politics 're for them that hide b'hind mountains a parchment, Daclon. N'er trust a warrior 'at's tryin' diplomacy."

Jarril gives a frown. "Ya started it Daclon, ya woke up a beast and losing full control of this village should've given ya warnings of that. Or maybe ya didn't start it directly, time will tell on that one." The major clearly losing his temper now. Jumping over the barricade, he then gives Vansinnig a frown. Watching the archers keep their eyes on Daclon and his lot, the major frowns. "If they take one foot nearer, shoot them." Turning to another hare, he lowers his voice. "How long before reinforcements come? And where's Zeraph, need a word with that boy." Walking away down the street in conversation now.

Vansinnig laughs hard, watching Jarril and his troop leave. "Ah, tis a lovely thin', watchin' th' enemy retreat."

You room-page, "Are we going into the West Square now?" Daclon-almost- takes a step forward, but to do so would prove absolutely nothing, except that he is stupid. Instead, he crosses his arms, watching the hares leave. "A pity. I'd wanted to fight that hare. Wonder if all those hares are cowards?"

Halyard Village: West Square ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Halyard Village ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Surrounded on most sides by short, squat buildings, none any higher than two levels, the main square of this small, sea-side village is covered in a fine layer of dirt, which mostly covers the old cobble stone beneath. Many of the buildings lining the square are homes, though some are places of business - and, of course, there are the obligatory pubs. However, pubs are not the only staple of a small village, especially not this one. Scattered here and there upon sidewalks and in front of stores, various fishing nets and traps lie about, most considerably worse for wear. It's obviously a fishing village. Beyond that, a dirt road runs north and south from the square, with a small scattering of homes, and behind these, a backdrop of trees. Meanwhile, beyond the trees lies the shore. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~ Visible Exits: [A]ntique [S]tore [S]outhern [R]oad [H]alyard [T]avern [N]orthern [R]oad [K]nick-knack [C]at [S]hop [M]ain [S]treet [B]ack to [D]irt [P]ath

Zeraph stays near enough to the barricade once he is over, though he leans against one of the houses, just waiting for the Major. He knows that Jarril will want to talk with him, and he isn't about to hide from it. The fighter straightens when the officer moves along the road in his direction, standing at attention and ignoring the blood running down his front, and a little on his back.

Jarril pads back and looks to where Zeraph is and gives a frown. "What in the blithering bally insane thing were ya doing out there fighting a rat!" His voice had clearly gone to the highest that it could go as he stood there. "And ta think all ya got from it is that wound and now they think we're cowards when we're not ready ta fight them yet. Are ya flipping well mad!"

Zeraph flinches slightly as he is yelled at, eyes half closing for a moment, then straightening again, taking it well for the moment. "I'm sorry, Major, it was an accident on my part. I didn't intend on ending up on the other side of the barricade, sir." The fighter remains still, ready for scolding.

Jarril watching a healer go towards Zeraph, he nods while he talks. "Then ya bally well better let me know what did make ya go over that barricade. And I didn't want ta have ta put up with that big oaf of a badger either getting the upper hand on us. I have a good mind ta send ya back ta the mountain."

Zeraph doesn't let the healer distract him, just allows the hare to go about its business as he keeps his attention on Jarril. "I fell." He states, looking a little embarrassed. "I was trying to see how many there were, sir, so I could report to you..and I fell." The fighter looks like he wants to hit himself.

Jarril shakes his head. "They're on the other side of the square. It would've been easier if ya climbed up onto a roof ta look. And I want pot shots at that badger now, if he's well enough ta get up there then he's well enough soon ta start causing us major problems again." Pausing. "Right, as of now, ya off duty until that heals up, ya only got y'self ta blame for it as well. As soon as reinforcements arrive, we wait then we make plans on attacking them." Pausing. "Don't worry, they got a laugh in on us now but it wasn't ya fault but be more careful next time. Ya be allowed back on duty when the healahs tell me ya can. Dismissed."

Zeraph sighs slightly as he listens to the major speak to him, then he salutes to him, nodding smartly at the end. "Yes, sir." He goes to walk away, the healer having to follow after him and trying to get him to stay still. The buck looks like he feels a little better now, that he has been spoken to, though he doesn't much like being put off duty. The fighter finally comes to rest by another building, sitting down.
