Feast for the Abbot

Long. Long. Long. Monstrous rp log which took me ages to 'clean'. The Abbot's funerary feast.

RW Abbey: Great Hall -------------------------------------------------------------------- The Great Hall of Redwall Abbey. Countless paw falls have echoed from these stones, and untold numbers of feasts and merry gatherings have been held here. A table, not nearly so grand or large as its predecessors, but quite functional for mealtimes, rests near the center of the hall. Chairs exist here aplenty, though most of them are obviously not from the same set. High above, the stain glass windows give the Great Hall a beautiful appearance. The glasswork is exceptionally done, crafted by a skilled artist. The floor is clean and swept. A fire is kept burning in the fireplace at almost all times of the day and night, and there are several more comfortable chairs and cushions set up here, of varying sizes. One looks large enough to easily accommodate a badger. The Tapestry hangs proud and tall, and while the rest of Redwall may still bear the scars of natural disaster, this most famous of Redwall's relics remains unharmed by beast, time, or the elements. The figure of Martin the Warrior seems to be watching over his own with an unchanging, kindly gaze. Soft light is slowly beginning to filter in through the stained glass windows high above your head. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Exits/Entrances: [K]itchen [St]airs [C]avern [H]ole [Li]brary [En]try [B]reezeway --------------------------------------------------------------------

Kroova is comeing down the stairs in a white night shrit haveing just got up not to long ago. I move into great hall an take a set the smell of breakfeast fills the air. I smile thinking of the food as getting up before the others beasts means one gets first choice,an gets it while it's still fresh an warm.

Sabre seems to have chosen to forego breakfast, dressed for the day already. She's seated away from the tables and such, off to herself, her hat in her lap and book under her nose.

Enyo comes down the stairs next he smiles "good morning papa." he running over to him hugging him from behind "how are ye?" he asks as he lets go

Kroova yawns some as I look back smileing." I be good nice an quiet today well for now it tis."

Sabre peers over her book, smiling as Enyo hugs his father. She turns a page, determined not to intrude and continues her morning reading.

Enyo smiles a little "im good as well, just wishing that bird would go away sooner." he says looking up "i can't wait to go out to see it will be so much fun."

Kroova looks at him." Ye seen thy kestril?" I look up at the rafters looking them over carefuly."An morrning Sabre still quiet as always I see."

Enyo shakes his head "um lucky for me no i have not." he smiles a little "but i did find something out about sinway i never knew." he smiles bigger "sinway has a sister."

Sabre looks from over her book again and offers Kroova a wave. "Afraid so. Quiet's a habit too difficult to rid myself of." She perks her ears, then. Surely it's not eavesdropping if they can see she's listening.

Kroova looks back to Enyo." He dose I thought the would ave a brother but a sister is good as well."

Enyo shakes his head "ohh he has a older brother as well he is the youngest." he smiles "and they all have tattoos of a rose on both paws he says sinways roses are red his sisters are purple and his brothers are black." he nods a little

Being quiet, is indeed, a habit difficult for the vixen to rid herself of, and, in fact, might be a virtue. She can happily read, or look like she's reading, while her perked ears listen in, and not feel the need to draw attention to her eavesdropping by entering the conversation.

Kroova smiles." Well I hope that they un day find there way here to thy abbey. Sinway seems like he is lonely at times an aveing family is a good thing."

Enyo smiles a little "his sister came not to long ago like about three days ago." he says nodding "as for his brother he has not seen him in a long time."

Sabre is sitting off, away from most beasts, apparently reading a book, hat on her lap. The twitch of her ears, though, might show that she's not thoroughly diconnected from the world around.

Kroova nods." I see ope his brother is alright, I'm sure he'll see him agin sometime."

Kroova smiles as the food is brought out an set out, I go to make a plate grabbing some scones with honey pluse a tankard of mint tea.

Enyo smiles and does the same sitting down next to him "father, do most sea beast have tattoos?" he asks random question really

Kroova rubs my head." Some do myself I have none as they are hard to remove, once there on ye."

Sabre cringes very slightly. She has a mark. She can't remove hers, as far as knows, otherwise she would, after all, her mark was not a choice of hers. The vixen shrinks down a little, bringing her book a little higher.

Enyo looks at kroova "what if i wanted a tattoo?" he asks looking at him

Kroova Smiles van takes a bite of food swallowing." Ungry Jullie or no?" I look to the fire an the back to her." It's really good nice an warm."

Sabre looks over, peering at the food. "Temptin', but..." The vixen sets her book down, tilting a paw. "I've been skippin' breakfast a lot recently... It's sort of a habit, not sure I can break it."

Enyo looks at sabre "its easy just pick up some food and take a bite." he says smiling doing it him self before looking over to kroova "you never answered my question."

Kroova says, "Well most sea beast do ave tattoo's on um but some dont I really ne'er wanted un.""

Enyo shakes his head "no you answered that, i asked what you would say if i wanted a tattoo?"

Sabre chuckles at Enyo and shakes her head. "I know how to eat, Enyo, I mean; I've chosen to skip breakfast so often that I'm not sure my stomach would cope with the extra morning food." She listens to the tattoo conversation.

Kroova looks at him." Well if'n it's something ye want go for it though it may urt some, once they put it on an af'er there done."

Enyo nods a little "i can take it i want a tattoo." he says nodding glad his father does not disapprove of it

Sabre makes no comment, just reads her book again. Her tail gives a little flick.

Kroova Looks over to Jullie." So how ave ye been Julie I ave not seen ye for some time."

Kedan slowy walks down the stairs and into the great hall. He yawns as he looks around to see who is around. He then gives a greeting nod to all who be in the room

Sabre smiles, dropping her book a little again. "I've been well, thankyou Kroova. I have to say, I agree, a long time." The vixen shakes her head. "All the faces from the past keep coming up; most taller or older than I remember. Been doing quite some thinking on the old days recently." She admits, pausing to nod a hello to Kedan. "Can you tell me, whatever happened to Shadowbow, Jenn and our old friends? I just... I've not seen any of them in so long now."

Kedan he sits down at the table and yawns. He greets the others. "Allo everybeast"

Kroova shrugs an frowns." Shadowbow an Jenn I'm not sure what appened to those two, Joanskill thy last thing I remember is a sword fight with him. I ran him through as I was left with little chocie he lived, but i ne'er saw him agin."

Sabre smiles. "Hello Kedan." Her smile saddens though, at the news. "Makes me uneasy, all these older and taller beasts, coupled wi' missing friends. Makes me feel old."

Kroova nods." I'd like to see Shadowbow an Joanskill agin we were good friends, almost like brothers."

The vixen sets her book down, drumming a paw. "Hmm. Jenn and Shadowbow were the first of Camp Willow I ever met. I do miss them. Miss a lot o' people these days though." She shuffles. "Still. At least some old faces are still about." She looks pointedly, though pleasantly, at Kroova.

Kroova smiles an finish up my plate." I miss um to wish they'd come back where ever they went to."

Sabre sighs. "Perhaps they will, but.." She leaves the latter bit of the sentence unspoken, she doesn't think a return likely. The vixen decides to leave her chair and come closer, bringing hat and book with her.

Kedan looks like he is about to fall asleep in his seat. he has only greeted the others and sat down since he came in

Sabre pulls a new chair and reseats herself, rediscovering her page, she gives Kedan a glance before she resumes reading however. "Ya look tired, Kedan. Sleepless night?"

Kedan kinda nods. "Me Nephew Wouldnt Go to bed last night, And Since his Father is in the Infermery, I had to Attempt to put him to bed." he yawns again. "i think that Dibbun may be more Frustraiting then anybeast" he says.

Sabre chuckles. "Dibbuns can be that way, sometimes. I didn't know you had family here?"

Kedan nods abit. "Me brother Came a few nights ago with his Son" he said with a small smile.

Sabre perks her ears curiously. "Oh? Coincidence him showing up here while you're staying, no? A happy one though."

Kedan nods in agreement. "Indeed. THough if i dont get sleep tonight I may be forced to sleep on the Roof" he says with a chuckle.

Sabre raises an eyebrow. "Don't think you'd get much sleep up there either, if that bird's still about."

Kedan has forgotten bout the bird. "right. Foregot bout that Bird.

Sabre grins. "Well, he's been so quiet up there..." The vixen shakes her head "Can't afford to forget him for too long though."

Kedan nods. "I hope something Is done about that Bird Soon" he says.

Sabre shrugs. "Sure it will be. Abbeybeasts aren't gonna put up with weapons bein' carried about for too much longer... An' I think the whole paranoia of bein' mostly inside is startin' to get to some beasts."

Kedan nods. "Especally Drao" he states. "Though I dont have much Fear of that Bird"

Sabre shakes her head. "Most of us haven't even seen him, so I'm not sure what I'd be supposed to be afraid of anyway. For all I know, bird's only big enough to catch mice, I'll admit, still a problem, but somebeast's doin' some exaggerating."

Kedan nods. "Agreed. But I still think That Something Should Be Done QUICKLY" he states fighting back another Yawn

Sabre nods. "I agree. Before we all die of boredom at least. I've kind of committed myself to something and now I'm gettin' impatient t' be gone and get on with it."

Kedan nods again. "Agreed. how long has that bird been here anyways?" He asks

The vixen's book is well and truly forgotten. She shrugs. "I'm not sure. He was here, apparently, long b'fore I got here. I heard tales about the thing on m' way here."

Kedan hmms a bit. "Well then I Wish somebeast would get rid of it soon" he frowns, a Yawn Breaking though his words

Gorefang flops off the bottom steps, stretching his neck as he glances around the room. A brief frown goes to the fox before he focuses on the fire before heading for the chairs around in.

Kedan looks at Gorefang. "Hello there" he says.

Sabre returns Gorefang's frown with a raised eyebrow, curious look. She's soon back with attention to Kedan though. "I hope you get a good night soon, Kedan... If ya keep yawning, you'll start me off..."

Madison is... happy. The chemically-bipolar squirrelmaid has mixed something into her usual potion, it seems. The main clue is her voice in a surprisingly tuneful singsong from the stairs; "Valerie, I get lost in your eyyyyes, how I fall for your smiiile..."

Kedan chuckles. "I'll try to contain myself" he chuckles and Walks over to Gorefang. "I wanted to thank you for yer help fewdays back"

Gorefang raises a paw to brush off Kedan's thanks "It's a job. Other otter alright?" flopping himself down in a chair just as Madison...arrives. He looks utterly bemused and slightly confused as he stares at the stairs.

Kedan nods slightly. "Yeah, They said He will be fine after a while" he said. "If We hadnt gotten their intime" he pauses.

Sabre flattens her ears; singing. Whether the singing is good or not, for some reason it's raising her fur slightly. A curious gaze is given to the stoat and otter's discussion.

Steps can be heard coming from the direction of Cavern Hole, unobtrusively announcing the arrival of Magramba. The squirrel is not carrying his usual weapons, and walks with a slight lean in his step, as if compensating for a weight which is not there. The squirrel inclines his head in greeting to those in the Hall, silently making for a secluded chair at the table, close enough to hear the rest, but not so close as to invite conversation.

Madison's singing continues as she appears. She doesn't even seem to be leaning on her cane much at all. But then again, judging by her behavior, her latest painkilling potion is pretty darned powerful. "It takes me awaaaay, so please won't you staaaay..." she pauses, thinking about that lyric, "Wait, how does that work?"

Gorefang raises his voice to the Madison "Why don't ye try it out? Ye go, we'll stay" doesn't wait for the response before turning to glance over in time to spot Magramba's appearance. A short nod sent to that squirrel.

Kedan chuckles at gorefang's comment and somewhat agrees. "Anyways, If you ever find yer self at the swaying reed tavern in camp willow, Drinks on me" he says with a smile with a nod to The Entering Squirrels

Madison cants her head, "That's not very nice!" she returns to Gore, "Besides, you aren't smiling like it said." Kedan's comment, however, draws a, "Ah, now that is very kind. I'll be sure to head up there." her eyes aren't as sharp as they usually are, likely because of the potion.

Kedan very Quickly turns. "As It happens, I wernt Really talkin to you, but i'll give yer a discount insted eh?" he says wondering why he just said what he said.

Sabre sits, smirking, just reading her book, her ears paying more attention to the others than her eyes now.

Gorefang raises a brow to Madison again before putting on a very exaggerated and faked smile that's more fangs than anything.

Madison shrugs, "I won't argue." is all she says, sipping from THE FLASK. Gore's grin is met with one of her own. Eee.

Eos comes into the hall the first thing he looks for is gorefang seeing him he runs over "gorefang, hey." he says looking at him

Turn page, ear flick. The vixen remains distracted by her book; happy to simply read and eavesdrop.

Magramba watches quietly as things occur in the Hall. Magramba takes off his vambraces and absently begins to wipe them down with a clost procured from inside his tunic.

Gorefang seems disgruntled by Madison's grin, sinking back into his chair with a small frown. A glance goes down to Eos as he appears "Hey kid

Eos jumps up into a chair "no one seems to know the day they will burry the abbot but they know it will be soon." he says nodding his head "it took me a while to find some one who knew that but i did."

Gorefang grumbles quietly "Taking their time about it. Want to go home already"

Eos nods a little "aye so do i." he says looking around "don't like it here theres more rules then you ever gave me."

Sabre just turns her pages, a glance occasionally going to those around; see if she's missed anything while reading. Her ears still perk, but aren't as attentive as before.

Beatrix emerges from the library, usual assortment of scrolls in the crook of her wing. She's up early. Or up late. Are we really sure she's nocturnal? Still in black veil, out of respect for the late abbot...

Kedan looks to Beatrix and nods. "Good Day" he says.

Madison, well, one does have to wonder. She's rather hard to handle and difficult at the best of times, but she has been genuinely letting herself slip for the past week... around about since the time of the Abbot's passing, coincidentally. Since then, she's either been an aggressive and abusive drunkard, or this, a clearly drugged-up squirrel, like more drugged up than she usually is. Is her leg giving her that much trouble, or is there another reason? Either way, she sips at the flask, leaning on her cane with a faraway look.

Gorefang snorts once to Eos' words "They're not that hard to follow. Keep out the way and be expected t' do nothin' all day" the bat is not yet spotted, blind side and all.

Beatrix dips a flawless curtsy with her wing still laden with scrolls, which is rather a good trick. "Master Kedan. A most gracious day to you. I trust it finds you well?" Her shape sight catches back a mix of echoes, some familiar, some new. Madsion's is passed over with a brief glance as her ears flick that way.

Eos nods a little "but i don't like this no going out side rule." he says with a sigh "but ohh well what can ya do."

Kedan nods. "Yes it Has" he says Still Really Tired. "you?"

Eos nods a little "aye but i still don't like it." he says to gorefang with a sigh

Gorefang snorts a grunt "Got worse than that at home. Had a couple of owl flyin' about once. No roof t' hide under out there either"

Kedan is about to fall asleep in his chair.

Madison, well, since everyone's confused with posing, she takes the time in her "enlightened" state to twirl her cane like a baton. Whoo!

Eos nods a little "i see but owls normally only come out to hunt at night" he looks around the rest of the hall noticing all the best for the first time

Beatrix looks up briefly, the twirling cane making a very... odd... echo to her shape sight. She gazes at Madison for a moment, something like sympathy in her dark eyes, before her head dips again to read the scroll she has unfurled before her.

Madison is ignorant of the bat's pitying look... which really says something. Her regular self (or as regular as she gets) seems openly craving of pity, if only because it gives her something to work with.

Drao comes down the stairs, a bright look on his face. He Enters the great hall and looks around to see whom is here

Beatrix is a whom, and she is here. Or more specifically, over there at the sideboard, carefully reading through a ragged bit of vellum from the library shelves. If she's caught the echo of Drao entering, she does not show any sign of it yet.

Drao looks to Beatrix, sabre, Gorefang and Company, before climbing on to a chair at the table.

Another page finds itself being turned, the vixen turning it slowly tuning out further and further from the hall around her. Must be a good book.

Gorefang glances to the stairs once and Drao's entrance though he doesn't seem to offer a greeting. His eye shifts over the room quickly before he sits up, looking to the kitchen door "May as well find food, got nowt else t' do"

Drao looks to all the beasts he doesn't know, which happens to be all but Beatrix. His Eyes Shift around the room but mainly to Sabre

Beatrix's chin lifts. She dips a courtly nod to Drao, but as the room seems mostly quiet, says nothing to disturb the repose.

Eos nods a little running over coming out a few minutes later with some soup enough for every one bread for every one some tea and a small cake a novice was helping him "really you don't need to give us this much." he says the novice shakes his head "no its fine little one there are other beast out here who are hungry as well." he says as they sit the food down on the table the novice leaves and eos nods to gorefang "well heres some food." he says giggling

Sabre peers over the top of her book, eyebrow raised. She's caught Drao looking between page turns and returns his look, with a bit of a smirk.

Drao looks to sabre and smiles. "Hello" he greets

Gorefang almost rolls his eyes at the novice, leaning forwards to snatch up one of the cakes "Still too helpful for their own good" he mutters once the novice is out of hearing range.

Eos smiles a little as he gets him some soup some bread a peace of cake and some tea "i can't help it if i have the effect on some beast." he says giggling a little

Sabre lets herself return the smile, lowering her book further and responding with a greeting of her own. "Hello."

Gorefang shoots Eos a small frown for the laughing though it's more puzzled and he doesn't tell the dibbun to stop. A glance is given to Drao briefly before he once more settles his gaze on the fox. Usual grumpy frown firmly back in place as he looks her over and it only seems to get a tiny bit worse when he fixes his eye on the book.

Eos looks at the frown he stops a little and eats his food "so how much longer we going to be waiting here? are we going to wait for them to burry him or will we go home if it takes to much longer?"

Sabre is aware of the grumpy frown emanating from the stoat. And then she's aware when it changes to her book. The vixen shoots him a quick, questioning arched brow.

Gorefang narrows his eyes on Sabre briefly before Eos gets his attention and he glances away again "Eh, they can't leave it long. Not like he's goin' t' die twice. Can wait and learn yeself some patients"

Eos shakes his head "i can wait, i was just wondering is all." he says as he finishes his meal looking over to sabre reading her book

Sabre has left her book settled open in her paw, yet would be content to enter a staring contest with the stoat, it seems. Until he looks away anyway. "Ahem, problem?" She enquires. To be direct would probably be best, she decides.

Drao gazes around the room in wonder with a smile on his face

Gorefang turns his eye back onto Sabre "Just decidin' if ye're a smart vermin or some beast abbey folk have taught" directness from both sides.

Eos just eats staying out of this he looks around his gaze goes to drao for a few moments before he looks around again

Sabre chuckles. "Well. 'm not an abbey dweller. And, for the other," She thinks, weighing her words. "It depends on ya idea of the vermin label?"

Eos has no idea whats going on after he finishes his meal he gets up and walks around before his lags fall alseep

Josiah walks in the end of Sabre's words, namely vermin label. He arches an eyebrow at that and looks in her direction and Gorefang's without saying anything.

Drao turns to see Josiah enter. the Dibbun jumps off the chair and then runs over. "When is my Father allowed out of The Infermery?" he asks

Eos walks over to josiah "hello again." he says before he walks back to his chair next to gorefang and he sits down

Josiah is distracted by the Dibbun's inquiry. "..Who might that be?" he asks Drao in return, honestly not knowing who.

Gorefang shrugs like it doesn't really matter "The misguided beast definition. Not the species one" he pauses briefly at a thought "though half vermin meet seem t' not understand what's misguided" he mutters as an after thought before the chatter makes him glance over. A brief nod sent to Josiah. He might not have set foot in the abbey for a very long time but he does still recognise beasts from way back when.

Beatrix is quietly reading library scrolls by the sideboard. It's easy to overlook her. She's small.

Sabre ahs. "Well. In that case, by your own ideas, I'd be neither." The vixen smiles, a nod given to new beasts before her book begins to rise towards her eyes again.

Drao looks up at Josiah. "Ruddtail Sir" he says

Josiah ponders the name a moment and then answers, "Ah, that one. Once his leg has healed up more proper, he should be allowed out. Right now, he might only hurt himself more trying to walk about on it."

Gorefang looks back to Sabre again and eyes her once up and down "Right. Sure ye are" he snorts, doesn't look like he really believes it but he doesn't dwell. Settling back in his chair and turning his attention back to food munching.

Drao frowns. "When will that be Sir?" The Dibbun Asks

Sabre halts the rising book then. Glancing back to Gorefang. "So, what if you had to pick one for yourself?" The vixen asks, genuine interest behind the question.

Eos looks over to gorefang "ruddtail was trying to walk a few days ago." he says shaking his head "ruddtails the one we saved from that stoat." he sighs "he was so thick headed it took us forever to get him to lay back down."

Josiah hrms. "Might still be a while, he was hurt quite a bit. Pard' me a moment." He heads toward the kitchen, peering in to check on things. At the same time, novices seems to be slowly but surely entering the room. He moves toward the middle of the end of the main table.

Drao frowns at the news of his father and goes back to siting down.

( One of them novices is sinway he seems to be in a cheerful mood today a little to cheerful as he walks to find his seat at the table which ends up to be right next to sabre )

Kedan wakes up from the table he dozed off at. "What where who why?" he says wakeing.

Drao hears is Uncle and turns. "Uncle!" he shouts. The Dibbun Jumps into his Uncle's Arms smiling.

Gorefang glances only quickly back to Sabre "Vermin" is the only answer he gives before a "Figures" goes in response to Eos. The talk of otter saving might go against the vermin part but he doesn't seem to be paying attention to it, leaning round his chair to peer at the kitchen before looking to the window thoughtfully, trying to work out time "Hmm, bit early for dinner, too late for lunch"

Kedan hears his Nephew jump into his Arms. "Well Allo there Drao" he says.

Sabre has a book, she grunts a, maybe slightly, grudging acceptance of Gorefang's answer and then raises it back up to read. Her ear flicks as she notes an otter sit beside her, and she mumbles a greeting, having not looked up to see who it is.

( Sinway Smiles over at sabre "good day sabre." he says looking at the book "what ya reading?" he asks )

Drao looks up. "How you?" Drao asks.

Kedan looks to Drao. "I am Alright, you?" he asks

Drao nods. "I'm Good" he smiles.

Josiah finds himself a seat, as does Caina to the left of him, but before seating himself takes a moment and raps the table sharply with his paw, so that it makes a noise audible enough for all to hear. "Excuse me, might I have everybeast's attention please?" he calls out.

Gero enters the Great hall apparently in time for something. In his arms is The Fox Dibbun who Gero thinks is asleep. The Mouse sits down and looks up.

Eos looks over to josiah and listens wondering what was going to happen. Sinway on the other hand new what this was about

Kedan looks over to Josiah and listens.

Drao peers over his uncles arm, straining to see.

Nivik strides down the stairs, stretching smoothly, meshing his fingers behind his neck as he takes pause to sweep his emerald eyes over the collection, taking stock of the situation.

Sabre shrugs "No idea, and hello Sinway, by the way," She smiles, taking a glance "But it's got some nice rhymes and odd poems in it..." She might have said more, tailing off to listen to Josiah.

Beatrix, rarely here for normal dinner time, attends Josiah's call for attention. She wasn't eating, but she sets her scrolls aside and folds her wings primly.

Edan was a sleep but is now awake and seems to be more calm he tries to sit up in the mouses arms after a few fail tries he finally is able to

Gero looks as the Fox awakens in his arms. Quietly he says to be very quiet so that Josiah can speak.

Gorefang's ears perk up a little and he follows the sound to Josiah, though his eyes fix on Caina and stay there as he slowly sinks into his chair and nearly out of sight. Blending into the scenery.

Teela enters Great Hall from the kitchen, standing with the others to hear what the Brother has to say before any other feast platters are brought out.

( Sinway nod a little to sabre before going back to watching the brother he was happy there was going to be a feast he hadn't seen one in a while )

Gero looks back to the Fox dibbun in his Arms every now and then and quietly watches Josiah.

Josiah says, "For those of you who knew Abbot Keiran, he was a very kind beast, devoted to this Abbey and its people. As such, his passing and his more recent burial have been sad events indeed for us all. He will me missed. We take this time now to celebrate his life with this feast. Please, enjoy yourselves and be happy. That's all."

Edan looks up at gero "feast?" he asks wagging both his tails "food?" he smiles maybe this place wasn't like he was told

Josiah then looks to a novice near the kitchen door and gives a nod, at which said novice opens the kitchen door to allow a procession of carts to file out with the food. And quite the food indeed! One cart is laden with various breads and cheeses, another with salads, one with somedeeper'n'ever pies and even fish, and finally one with kegs of various beverages. Anything by way of dessert seems to be left out for right now. Chances are that is deliberate.

Eos looks over to gorefang "im some what happy we stay one more day we get to have a feast." he says looking at all the food

Gero tries to make sure that the dibbun cant jump out of his arms as he watches the carts file out.

( Sinway smiles he a little looking over to sabre "you will never guess who came to see me a few days ago." he says his smile only getting bigger ).

Beatrix lowers her eyes and head in brief, silent tribute to the abbot, murmuring something sotto voce about Kerian resting honorably with his ancestors. Her chin comes up and as the others start to eat, she finally removes the black veil she's worn since the abbot's passing, replacing it with her normal scarlet.

Drao smiles when he sees the cart, not really eating much today. He jumps down out of his uncles arms and goes to sit down by himself.

Nivik lets his whiskers twitch slightly, ears perked, albiet a bit warily. He elects, after a moment, to find a place to seat himself: straightening his coat a bit in a straight, proper manner, before sitting down.

Sabre eyes the food, with, perhaps, a little alarm. Ah, she forgot that this place did feasts for everything. Perhaps she can get away with pretending she ate something. She sets her book down and perks her ears at Sinway. "Mmm, 'm pretty sure I won't guess, ya'd be right." She smiles.

Josiah, as the procession continues, seats himself, as does Caina on his left, but the seat to his right is left vacant for some reason.

Teela's responsibilities out of the way, she heads over toward Josiah, taking the seat next to him that was left open. She smiles at the Brother, nodding a greeting to the other beasts nearby.

Kedan feels Drao jump down and happens to see where his Nephew sits down. Kedan stays seated, still tired.

( Sinway looks at the food before back to sabre "me sister came to see me." he says happy as can be "after so many seasons, i finaly got to see my sister." )

Gorefang takes a minute longer than usual before his gaze changes to flick down onto Eos. He waves the dibbun away with a paw "Go, eat till ye're fit to burst and have fun"

Eos looks at gorefang "what about you?" he asks wondering what gorefang was going to do

Nivik tilts his head to Caina momentarily, and dips his head to Josiah in passing, making a quick gesture that could be construed as we need to talk. He then intercepts a bit of bread on its way by, and begins to nibble thoughtfully.

Edan gets out of the mouses arms and runs off but keeping out of the way of the food he sticks to running under the table ending up running right into josiah lag

Sabre grins. "Oh, Sinway, that's good t' hear, really." The vixen watches so many beasts milling about. Hmm. She keeps her mind on discussion. "So, will she be staying on at the abbey?"

Beatrix gets away with not eating abbey food all the time. It's not like the kitchen knows how to set a proper larval remove, or has the correct tableware for moths. :p One eyebrow lifts at the sight of cheese being eaten with crusty bread. Lowlanders are peculiar folks.

Gero sees Edan Jump out and The Mouse quickly follows, untill he reaches Josiah, the one he was looking for in the first place. Gero Looks down and Picks up The Young Fox and Chuckles. "You almost got away Young one" He says. He then looks to Josiah. "greetings"

( Sinway shakes his head "no she just left this morning she went back to the holt to tell them i was ok." he nods a little "i had not checked in with my holt since the day i left so long ago, the was worry i was dead but she knew that when me and my parents left they was going to take me to the abbey so she took a chance and i was here." he nods a little "wish my brother would of came as well." )

Drao waits to be allowed to start to eat before actually eating. The young otter drums his tail silently.

Nivik selects a rather grainy bread, a wholesome fare, and a lovely cheese, studded with nuts here and there, to accompany it. He dodges the more potent drinks, going to a weaker ale after whiffing a few samples before finding one to his liking. Nimbly dodging the sweets and glazed goodies, he, oddly, takes up a knife and carves a bit of fishflesh onto his cheese and bread, before taking a bite of the savory concoction.

Josiah passes nods of greeting to those he didn't get to do so for before, and smiles to Teela as she takes the said seat. "Whoops!" he says as he feels Edan bump into his leg. "Careful there, little one. You ok?" he asks while reaching to lift him up.

Gorefang frowns just slightly and waves Eos off again "Go on. I'll..be catching up with beasts" yeah, that seems like a good idea and he gets up, slightly less moody for something to do. Moving away from the head table and milling about in a random search for beasts from the old days.

Eos nods a little as he walks off going to get some food

Beatrix keeps her face carefully neutral as she watches beasts tuck into cheese and fish... and other oddities... she herself takes nothing but a small bowl of Malmsey, for now.

( sinway goes for what most otters would the fish getting some bread some cheeses a salad and some ale as he sits back down next to sabre he starts to eat )

Sabre hmms. "Well, perhaps he will follow after recievin' the good news about ya?" She smiles, watching the food being consumed all around. "I'm sure he'll be anxious to come and visit you."

Edan looks at josiah as he wags both of his tails separately "sorry mousy." he says before looking at the one holding him "let me go let me go."

Nivik whups, and leans, reaching, not asking for anycreature to pass, no. Rude, perhaps, but effective, as he snags an apple, tapping it against the side of his head. Satisfied, he unsheathes his belt knife, and slices a wafer of fruit from it, popping it into his muzzle and churring quiet contently.

Gero looks down to the Fox in his arms and then to Josiah. "Should I?" he asks

Beatrix sips at the bowl of dark, sweet wine, quietly regal. She looks content enough, in her quiet way...

Nivik settles back, whittling his apple away, eyes closing as he murmurs softly to himself. That fluffy, golden banner of a tail tilts to one side, then the other behind him, in a metronomic, pendulum-motion.

Josiah looks over to one section of the table where other Dibbuns have been gathered together where they can all eat and be monitored in one place. He offers, "He can sit with the other Dibbuns if he'll behave himself," looking between the two of them.

Drao sits with the others around his age and digs in

Gero looks to the Fox in his arms. "will you behave yourself?" he asks, looking down.

Edan nods a little "ill be good." he says trying to get down after a few seconds he does and he runs over to the other dibbuns "hello im edan." he says wagging his tails

Gero watches the dibbun get down from his arms still wondering what his name was.

Drao sees the Fox come up to the Dibbun Table. He smiles. "Hello! Im Drao" The Otter pup Says with a smile before going back to eating.

Eos eos likes his seat where he is and does not give it up he gets some food and goes back to eating not really feeling like running around he looks around at all the happy beast but he was happy gorefang and him would be going home

Josiah looks back to Teela and smiles. "Looks like you came just in time," he says while he receives some of the food.

Teela nods. "No chance of missing it," she says. "Friar Augustus enlisted my help in the kitchens today."

Gero turns to go back to sit down. quietly he finds a spot somewhat away from everybeast.

Sinway is in a very good mood today he looks over to josiah he smiles walking over to him taking his stuff and finding a place to sit that was closer to him "good day brother." he says smiling a little to cheerful "how are you?"

Josiah has begun eating with a will at this point. He nods in answer to Sinway, but he has a mouthful so it takes him a moment before he answers. "Just fine, and yourself, Sinway?"

Sinway smiles a little "im great." he says taking a bite and eating it "i had a unexpected visit from my sister." he goes on with a smile "she was so shocked to see me in a habit."

Josiah asks, "Oh? Why's that?"

Sinway smiles a little "her name is nersrin sithrath purplerose, because the rose on her paw like this." he shows his tattoo of a red rose on one of his paw "is purple. and she was shocked because only my mom and dad knew i wanted to be a novice every one else thought i was to much of a slacker to be a novice." he nods a little

Josiah gives a soft huh at Sinway's explanation. "I see," he says before sampling some of a salad he had obtained.

Sinway nods a little "she came because the holt was worried about me, she knew mom and dad had taken me to the abbey when we left so she took a chance and ran into me." he nods a little "i wanted to go see my holt when i went to the shores during the summer but i could not find them."

Josiah asks, "Oh, that's why you went out that way? Because that's where your holt is?"

Sinway nods a little "aye i had not seen them since i was 4 seasons when we left." he nods "but we could not find them me and skuld so after about a month of looking we gave up and just stay to injoy the place see the mountain of salamandastron skuld liked the hares there."

Josiah nods at this while he keeps eating. He notices Beatrix not seeming as much an active participant with the food and offers with a smile, "You're free to partake, Lady Beatrix. No need to feel shy."

Gero is sitting quietly in another part of the Great hall, writing something with a piece of parchment and charcoal, not really paying attention to anybeast around him or the food.

Beatrix steeples her wingtips. "A gracious invitation, Brother Josiah-- yet I think mine own tastes do not mesh overly well with the abbey's fare. Think you no more upon it, I assure you. Mayhaps when you serve the trifles and sweets, I should find something more to my liking."

Josiah nods understandingly. "Ah yes, I think we might have had that conversation before. If you say so," he says, but smiling nonetheless, not seeming offended while he resumes doing justice to his food.

Beatrix, not wanting to cast aspersions upon the hard work of the abbey kitchen, takes a little bread and some more malmsey.

The dessert cart eventually rolls out, the main feature of which being a fairly elaborate strawberry trifle. Josiah passes it an eager glance, but makes it a point to see to what food he already has first.

Beatrix's gaze follows it. Cheese, sops such as the abbey serves, stews of roots... these aren't the kinds of things her folk eat, but she most certainly has a sweet tooth. Being the decorous sort, she is content to wait for the abbey dibbuns to have their share first, though.

Gero still not really partaking in any food or talk. He simply sits, writing something. He coughs and goes back to what he was doing.

Josiah waits for the trifle to go around before he gets some of it. By this time he's finished the rest of his food. He samples it and says, "Ah, wonderful. My thanks to Augustus indeed," he comments.

Beatrix accepts a fair portion of the sweet, along with a few other dessert morsels. Lucky for her the night looks like it will have good flying weather.

Josiah finishes his helping of the trifle and has some strawberry fizz to finish his meal. He breathes a sigh of contentment after this, and whispers something to Teela before looking around the room and watching the others that also continue eating or conversing.

Teela shrugs in response to Josiah's whisper. She finishes off her meal, pushing her plate away.

Josiah looks back to Teela. "I wonder.." he says, but the rest of the sentence is in but a whisper.

Teela hmms...frowning slightly.

Sabre remains. But has been reading her book. And still is. She hasn't touched the food, nor done much conversing with anyone bar the usual greet or aknowlegement expected.

Josiah nods softly. "Yeah, I thought the same," he says, his voice audible again. He stands, looking as if he'll be departing. He gives Caina a nod, then heads over to Beatrix and gives her a nod, coupled with a light bow. His voice lowers again, but it is audible enough that those nearby can hear still. Josiah says, "Thank you Lady Beatrix for your showing of respect by your apparel. You do honor to your home and people."

Beatrix flicks a small gesture of wingtip. "There is much of the late abbot that did justly merit respect, not the least the service he did perform for the House of Lascaux."

Teela gets up from her seat, moving over towards Josiah, as if to follow.

Josiah nods softly. "Well, I have to attend to the Infirmary at the moment. Keep otters that shouldn't be walking about from walking about, things like that," he says, a small smirk forming at the end of his sentence. "Caina can take it from here, I'm sure."

Beatrix curtsies. "Give you good eve, then, Brother Josiah. I should hope it passes you well." She dips another curtsy towards Teela as she comes alongside Josiah. "I think my own breakfast still awaits in the gardens, for all that it has not the splendor nor amiable company of a Redwall feast."

"Enjoy your breakfast, Lady Beatrix," Teela says, nodding in return to the curtsy.

Josiah nods again. "Ah yes, well thank you again for coming anyway," he says. He then looks Teela's way and smiles softly. "You don't have to come if you don't want," he tells her with a shrug.

Beatrix gives another courtly nod, then carefully steps back to allow the two mice their privacy. A few moments later she excuses herself and flutter off into the night.

Teela's ear flicks. "I'd like to borrow a book from you," she says. "If I borrow it now, I won't forget, nor will I have to borther you later."

"Alright," says Josiah. "You can show me which when we get up there." He reaches to take one of her paws in his and gives a wave to Caina with the free one before he starts for the stairs.
