Talk in the Rec Room.

Characters involved: Zoe_Lang, Maria, Miette, Rahier, & Lain.

Salamandastron: Recreation Room -------------- Salamandastron --------------- The recreation room for the army of the Longpatrol. Here soldiers come to relax after a hard day's work and the officers come for a game of cards or a quick drink by the fire. The room is quite large, having to deal with a lot of hares at one time. Along one wall there is a large worktop with some cuhsioned stools lining one side of it. On the other side of the worktop there stand many kegs and bottles, lined so that they can be easily opened by someone standing on the inside of the bar but well out of reach of the rowdy hares on the other side. There are a few woollen cloths on the bar and mats in front of each stool. The next thing nearest to the bar are the round tables, each with 4 chairs around and a lantern in the middle of each one. There are a couple of slightly larger oval tables with 8 seats around, obviously for larger crowds. The other end of the room is littered with armchairs, comfortable armchairs, each pair with a small table in between. The armchairs are near the fire, used to heat the room and provide extra comfort for the relaxing soldiers. ------------------------------------- Visible Exits: [ Out ]

Sitting by the fire, for once minus her little passenger, Zoe nevertheless seems to be waiting.. for something. Holding a warming tea mug in her paws, she glances towards the door every now and again. And here comes a young hare maid, little leveret in her arms. She pauses at the threshold, spots Zoe, and crosses over to her. Zoe smiles, holding out her arms for the little bundle. "Thanks for watching her, deah.." The hare maid flashes a grin, nods, and heads off.

The door opens as the healer reaches it. The librarian nods and holds the door open for the healermaid before entering her self. Crutching in Maria moves towards the armchairs, moving a lot faster then she has been in the past. "May I have a cider please?" she asks with a smile to the bartender, before she continues on towards the armchairs.

Smiling to Maria as she approaches the fireplace, Zoe dips her head in a nod and then lowers her gaze back to Miette, now in her arms, "'Ey, sweety... Didja have a fun time without me? Yeah, I bet ya did..." She smiles tiredly down at the little bundle, still not quite used to the up all night sleeping schedule, not that she slept all that well -before- Mi came.

Miette beams at Zoe, the big smile making her normally bright little face look even happier. She burbles something in baby speech as she reaches out for whatever she can manage to grab with her tiny paws.

A warm feeling comes across her body as she kind of relaxes onto her crutches, aww, Zoe's little one. "Good evening Zoe_lang." Maria says softly, a paw coming up in a wave. The librarian moves towards her new favorite seat, a two seater close to the fire, kind of facing the rest of the chairs. She sits slowly and smiles back towards the colonel, "How is your young one?" She asks tilting an ear to the side.

Chuckling softly as the tiny paws catch hold of a braid or two, Zoe dips her head forward somewhat to avoid Mi's pull. "Uh. Well, apparently she's fine. How's your leg?"

Miette giggles happily as she manages to get a hold of the braids, then as babies often do, she attempts to pull them toward her mouth to see what they taste like.

The librarian nods slowly and sighs with a smile, "Oh, they are cute." She giggles and leans back in her chair, "Oh, my leg is doing fine." She nods glancing down towards her injury. "I can put a little pressure on it before I collapse, but its getting there." She smiles, tilting her gaze towards Zoe again. "The nurses say I am crazy and straining my self too much, but I cant stand being all cooped up."

Stomp stomp stomp. Enter the trudging healer, muttering darkly under his breath. Of his mood and expression, all signs point to very irritated. Really. The nerve of some squirrels. Spotting the small gathering by the fire, Rahier diverts his trudging course to aim for those armchairs. And as if he was invited to do so, the buck elects a particular nearby armchair, dropping heavily into it. "Evening," he drawls, gaze flicking between the three does. At the attempted braid-eating, his scowl raises into a dim smirk. Cute.

"Oh, no you don't.." Grinning, Zoe gently disengages her braids from Mi's clutches, and then flickers a glance up to Maria, and then to Rahier as he sits. "Well, glad t' hear yer doin' bettah... And evenin', Rah." Of course, her attention is drawn inexolerably back to the little leveret, and she offers a finger for her to play with, rather than her braids.

Miette looks upset and bewildered for a moment as her newfound toys (the braids) are taken away, but she smiles and babbles delightedly as Zoe's finger is offered, instead. She takes hold with both paws, and, as with the braids, attempts to get a taste.

Another bright smile comes as her favorite healer enters. "Hello Rahier." Maria says softly and waves, a thought going through her mind, which quickly sidetracks off back to the leveret. Now she looks rather lost in her thoughts as she remembers past conversations and other issues that may present them self in the future."

Cough-cough. Zoe casts a glance around for something to distract Mi with, but finds nothing. Thus, setting down her tea mug on a table, she begins to make soft coo-cooing sounds, and proceeds to play with the dibbun, dangling her free paw above Mi, fingers wiggling, before diving in for a tickle. Which is of course accompanied by more silly mother noises. Oh, the indignities. Hehe.

Rahier grins back at the librarian. Though, it's rather lopsided, being forced. As she's apparently gotten lost in thought, the healer's gaze too falls back to Zoe and the leveret. Scrunching up into the armchair, paws returning to his pockets, the lopsided grin remains. The indignities indeed, Rahier finds Motherly Zoe rather amusing. So, he does as is the usual- snicker, snicker.

Miette reaches for the dangling paw, then as she's suddenly tickled, the little baby shrieks with laughter and wriggles, though still tries to grab the tickling paw.

"Wipe that smirk off yer face less you want baby-sittin duties long with yer healin ones, m'darlin' Rahier..." This Zoe says whilst smiling fondly down at Miette, and in a sing-song voice for the baby's benefit as she dives in for another tickle, though eventually she allows her attacking paw to be caught. "Agh! Too quick fer me, you are.."

Miette beams as the paw is caught, moving to pull it up for her to look at as she babbles delightedly in baby talk. Her footpaws still wave in the air as she plays with her mum's paw.

The smirk is gone. Replaced by a mock-aghast expression. "...You wouldn't." Bwaha. The healer coughs into his paw, suppressing the next round of snickers. Ahem. Now that the tickling round is over, "How're you feelin'?" Casually questioned. Well, she does look rather tired.. not that that's unexpected.

"Coo-coo-coo, aren't you just the sweetest little thing..." Zoe smiles tenderly, but - of course - still with that tired note. Her eyes flicker up to Rahier, and she jerks her shoulders in a small shrug as her smile wavers ever-so-briefly. Questions like that, they have the tendency to make you think about things. And things are bad. "I'm... a'right. But, y'know, if'n ya evah -do- want t' take up baby-sittin', don't hesitate t' offah." The smile reasserts itself and she looks back to Mi.

Maria takes a deep breath and sighs, a warm smile on her face as she comes out of her trance, looking around, she hehs quietly, standing up slowly the librarian uses a crutch for balance, "Would Either of you like a glace of cider or something else perhaps?" she giggles again and nods to Zoe, "I would happily accept your offer of babysitting."

Miette looks at Zoe funnily for a moment as she speaks to Rahier, but then as Zoe smiles at her again, she smiles back and continues playing happily with Zoe's paw and fingers. She burbles something now and again in her cheery baby talk.

Rahier smiles, slowly. Yes, trust your child to the loopy healer! ;p "Ah.. if you ever needed me to, I would.." Which is, of course, yes. His gaze flicks to Maria, and he shakes his head. "Nah, thanks, though." A more.. sweet smile. Of course. ;p Look back to Zoe at Maria's offer. He's just quiet, again.

Wiggling her fingers every now and again, Zoe nods her head at a pause in Mi's baby talk, "Oh, is that so? Yeah?" She grins, and then responds at Maria's question, "No - thanks. I've got a bit o' tea. And thanks, you two. Might have t' take you up on tha', sometime. Won't we, sweety? Yeah, 'm sure they'll -love- takin' care o' you.." She grins, taking hold of one of the leveret's tiny footpaws as they swing. Hee. So-tiny. Maria has connected.

Miette smiles at Zoe and one of her paws releases Zoe's, then the free paw starts searching for another toy. Her footpaws continue kicking and waving around.

Maria nods all around and moves off to pick up her cider that she ordered a wile back. Gimping her way back over to the armchairs she smiles and nods stoping next to Rahier's chair, "So what is it like, being a mother and all Zoe?" she asks with a smile her gaze drawing down upon the youngin again.

Though, as Maria moves to stand by his chair and asks that question, he's pointedly silent. Eh heh. The healer's unassuming gaze wanders slowly from the leveret, to the nearby fire.

-Now-, or before? Snerk. A thoughtful pause punctuates Maria's question before Zoe speaks, and she tilts her head slightly, still looking down at Miette. "... What's it like? I..." Another pause. Scary? Wonderful? Terrifying? Liberating? Take your pick. "'Tis.. a lot of things, Maria. A lot of things."

Miette's free paw finally finds something to grab, one of her own soft, long ears. She babbles happily and promptly pulls it toward her mouth.

Maria smiles at Zoe's Answer and glances at Rahier, for a few seconds before taking a sip of her cider. The librarian glances at Rahier once more before heading back towards her two seater. She thinks to her self for a few moments long on that subject but refrains from letting her ideas out. Sitting down again the haremaid sighs and smiles setting the crutch back on the floor next to her chair.

Rahier is still quite pointedly silent. And.. now he's quite characteristically fidgeting under the glances. That's definitely not a blush... yes it is. Well, a small one. Glance up, glance down. The healer sinks further into the armchair, fiddling with the front of his tunic. Hehe. ;p

Well, the little one's after all welcome to eat herself, so Zoe simply looks on with vague amusement as the ear heads towards the mouth. She glances up in time to catch Maria's behavior - and -then- Rahier's. Mwahaha. She smirks lightly, and then clears her throat. Ahem. Talk about indignities. "So. Rahier, how're -you-, then?" Smirk-smirk.

And a moment later, Miette makes the mistake of chomping down on her own ear with her little baby teeth. The baby makes a small whimper, then bursts out crying. repose

Maria takes a deep breath again, glancing towards Rahier as he is addressed, remaining quiet for a long moment waiting for his answer. But that poor dibbun... The librarians gaze shoots towards the poor bitten leveret, a soft sympathetic look crosses the haremaids face, "aww."

Right. Left. Right. Lef--Left!. Right. Leeffft. Ahem. She's walking? Staff raised just above the ground as she ventures to explore the limitations of her not-yet healed feet and legs, Lain quickly puts the staff down at the threshold, tipping quite precociously over and straightening quickly. Of course she wasn't disobeying direct orders. Cough. Quickly scanning the Rec Room with a slight smile as she passes over the bar and then stopping at the little groupie near the fireplace. Hmm...

Rahier evilglares back at Zoe! Though his response is somewhat hesitant. Especially with the repeated glances. "...I'm.. fine." Fidget. Though he latches onto the distraction in the crying Miette, smirking back to Zoe. Hah! Cough. The healer looks up and away.. to Lain. Who's walking. Blink. "Ah.. hey, Lain."

Well, perhaps -literally- eating herself isn't the best of ideas.. Zoe can't help the ruefully amused, but sympathetic smile that crosses her lips as she gathers Miette up into her arms, "Awwww... it's okay, sweety. Yer a'right, yer a'right... See, that's why we don't bite ourselves..." This she says whilst lightly rubbing the baby's back, though she nods upon Lain's arrival, smiling lopsidedly.

Miette's crying lessens after she's picked up. Soon she's down to just sniffling, and the sniffles grow few and far between after she starts sucking on her thumb. Her head rests against Zoe as she quiets down.

The librarian sits back slowly again, a smile comes back as the leveret calms quiet. Sighing softly Maria starts her thinking again and folds her paws, lightly setting them in her lap. The hare maid seems lost in her thoughts again, a kind of neutral look on her face, that is odd, usually she has a smile, thinking can be a bad thing.

Hesitating at the entranceway to approach or not approach, Lain timidly steps forwards, leaning on her staff quite heavily. Her gaze scans the faces of those present, pausing at her err...what do you call your half-brother's aunt's daughter? Well... News. Much news. Happy news. Eye glitter. Cheer. Now let's hope Zoe doesn't kill her.

Well, Zoe's not going to have the chance to kill Lain, either way, because she's watching Miette quiet down. And, damn if you think she's going to pass up some down-time in Mi's activeness in order to get some much-needed sleep. Thus, carefully, she stands, mindful to continue the soft rubbing of the leveret's back as she drifts on the edge of sleep. Her voice is soft - quiet. "Well, I s'pose I'll be off, then... Night, all." Er. Blink. Her eyes fall upon Lain with a small blink, but. Too sleepy to care. She simply offers her a small, lopsided, and tired smile, and glances first down at Miette and then to the door.

Rahier sneaks another glance at Maria. Yes, he's sneaking a glance. Oh, jeez. So timid, all of a sudden. ;p But there goes Zoe! "Er.. night, Colonel." Hehe. His gaze follows her to the entryway, to Lain! Who he eyes. Small wave from his armchair.

Maria waves a paw and nods "Sleep well Zoe_lang." she says softly going back to her thinking. The librarians gaze does not meet Rahier's, though she sighs after he looks away, almost as if she knew he glanced at her. Off go the glasses as the librarian closes her eyes taking a sip of that cider, num.

Blink. Oh, she's going now. Ahaha. Sitting down in a separate armchair from the rest, Lain tilts her head at the Colonel and the other two in question. Oh well...nice little tyke though. More fond staring. Snap. Must...not...look...at...evil...hare...thing...ish... Ahem. Lain is normal. Of course. Just a little...happy.

Er, righ'... well, night." This Zoe says, again, softly, and then, patting the babe's back softly, exits in search of a nice, quiet, happy dorm. And sleep... hopefully at least an hour's worth, anyway. Heh.
