Log: Dandelion discusses buck matters

Dandelion and Quentin are in the training room discussing things that concern bucks.

Quinten is lying on all fours on one of the padded mates, slowly pushing himself up and down as he works his way through the routine he'd been drilled in the other day

Dandelion has been off in a corner for a bit, talking to one of his fellow recruits, but slinks back to training after getting barked at by an officer. He comes shuffling up to a free spot near where Quentin is, dragging a rope after him, looking none too happy just now.

Quinten looks up and smiles "Hello there" he flicks his ears out of his eyes as he pushes up off the floor agian with a grunt, he hates doing these "have we met?"

Taking one end of the rope in each hand, Dandelion starts spinning it at a rather leasurly pace, skipping over it every time it comes round down. "Hey, we might have. I'm Dandel... Dan."

Quinten nods and lowers himself back down "I'm Quinten, i just arrived the other day." he grimaces and looks about, "Are the officers always so rough on the recruits? I got dressed down for getting lost...."

Dandelion frowns, still skipping about in his comfortable pace, obviously not inclined to put in a real effort. "Yea... All I did was take a little break, wot? And he's at me like he's my mom..."

Quinten shivers and slowls moves until he is lying on his back and begins to do sit up "Don't mention me ma'am, she'd have a heart attack if she knew i'd joined up to the patrol," he grins sideways at you "But at least they didn't send you to the kitchens you know, i got three hours in there the other day"

Dandelion picks up the pace a bit as the officer gives him a sharp look across the room. "My mom's who sent me here. She and dad. No room at home, wot. Someone had to go..." He grunts a little.

Quinten nods and is sitting up faster, paws hooked under a bar on the wall, grunting each time "Aye was the same with us, i'm the youngest of 7 i decided i wanted to see the world, not settle down to farming so i upped and headed north, i didn't really believe the mountain existed, and now look at me, fancy uniform, shouted at and run ragged"

Dandelion picks up the pace even more, unto the point where his speech gets a little strained. "Yea... except... the does all have the same uniform..."

Quinten looks a bit confused "The does? Why would it matter if they have the same uniform as the rest of us?" he grunts as he lays back doownn and flicks his ears "I hate this..."

Dandelion grins. "You can't impress the does with a fancy uniform if they have one like it."

Quinten shakes his head and shrugs "Who'd want to impres the does, i'd rather impress the officers," he tilts his head and looks up at you "Is there a reason i should be impressing does?" ahh innocence, that won't last long in the patrol

Dandelion chuckles. "Well, some of the does are officers..." He looks over his shoulder to see if the officer in charge is looking.

Quinten nods and stands up slowly shaking his ears and then squeezing them out to drip on the floor "Wel thats true, guess i'll need to impress them as well..."

Seeing as how some of aforementioned does are walking by within earshot, Dandelion decides to change the subject, looking around for something else to talk about, and spotting a pair of older recruits practicing with swords. "I wonder when they'll let us train with swords?" he muses.

Quinten looks over and shakes his head "not for agesyet, they were quite clear on that fact when i asked them, they were a tad miffed that i already had soem skill with the Javelin, but they insisted in the end i keep up practicing with tha tso i don't loose it," he reaches up to a bar above his head and begins to pull himself up

Dandelion loses his pace somewhat from looking at the does, and misses his jump. "Oh, heck." he mutters, and steps off the rope. "Where'd you learn the javelin?" he asks.

Quinten smiles "Me pa, he insisted we all start learnin it when we were little leverets, I'm not very good, i can throw it and i can fight with it like a staff, but my aim stinks something rotten"

Dandelion starts skipping rope again, slower now. "That's a funny thing for a leveret to learn..."

Quinten laughs and levers himself up the bar again "You should have heard my parents shouting at each other about it, but dad has hhis way, started to learn when i reached five seasons, so only the beginning of last spring really."

Dandelion picks up the pace until he's skipping fast enough to look like he means business, but slow enough to be comfortable. "All I got to know is how to chop wood..." he mutters.

Quinten chuckles "Oh we did that too, and sowed the seeds, and harvest crops, it was the most boring place on earth, andbeing the smallest i was picked on by everyone, i just slipped out one morning and started walking north, I met howard outside on the shore and he brought me inside"

Dandelion keeps skipping. "So, what are you going to be? Runner or fighter?"

Quinten nods at his uniform "Fighter thats me"

"Gonna be a runner, myself..." Dandelion says, and begins to slow down the pace. "Yech, this is getting old..."

Quinten lets go of the bar and looks around the room "Good to hear it, i bet you'll make a good one..." he edges closer and whispers "Its almost time for dinner isn't it?"

Dandelion stops skipping altogether. "Right you are." he says, ears perking up. "I wonder what they're serving?"

Quinten chuckles "Something green and mushy no doubt"

Dandelion begins to coil up the rope. "Well, green and mushy is fine with me." Rubbing his tummy a bit he adds, "I worked up a real appetite, wot."

Quinten chuckles and begins to head towards the door, keeping an eye out for officers "Well lets go find some baly grub wot"
