Home page for Dandelion

The home page for Dandelion, runner-in-training, adolescent buck, speckled whirlwind and all feet and ears.

Description of Dandelion

Dandelion is your typical young buck; he worries about typical things that typical bucks worry about: The size of his feet, that his left ear is longer (or is it the right that is shorter?), that no doe is ever gonna think he's handsome when his fur is all speckly like that, and that all that stupid fluffy fur around the cheeks makes him look like a leveret.

He's a runner in training with the Long Patrol which means he's got a cool uniform to impress the does with. Unfortunately, so does everybody else - including the does - so that plan didn't really work.

Dandelion comes from a family of... well, they were ten when he left. There was daddy Stuart who was a Long Patrol fighter - a loud, burly, brown furred buck who now uses his (in)famous axe on trees instead, cutting wood. Then there was mummy Megan who was convinced that after eight sons she'd get a daughter this time and so named her seventh one Dandelion before she was even born - except it turned out it was a he anyway. She promptly got another one, and then another...

Dandelion as a soldier

Dandelion is a moderately talented soldier. If one wanted to be mean, one could say he is rather mediocre. A lot of it could be attributed to his age. It's hard to be very agile and elegant when your feet grow by at least an inch every day - or at least they seem to do. And all those officers and uniforms remind him about all the stories daddy used to tell about how he single-handedly fought six vermin after the rest of his patrol was wiped out in an ambush, and things like that.

Dandelion isn't afraid of hard work, being a woodcutter's son and all, and he's not afraid of being kicked, punched, mangled, strangled, tossed, slammed, headbutted and otherwise recieving physical abuse. Having six elder brothers has made him quite used to that. One thing he can't do however is read and write. There was never time. Mum was going to teach him, but then there was the thing with his little brother being born, and then his elder brother was getting married...

All in all, the only thing that really keeps Dandelion mediocre is the fact he feels mediocre. Hopefully, this is something that'll sort itself out.
