Exploring the Sentry Room... and Finding a Sentry
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Once one has ascended the stairs, they would come upon this room, the sentry room. Along one wall, thee are small, slitted windows, which look no more than cracks in the mountain wall, from the outside, and it looks down upon the niche, outside the mountain, where all creatures entering the mountain must pass. The room, sparse and basically un-furnished, while comfortable in the summer, is often quite cold in the winter, save for a small fireplace in one corner. During the winter, you had better believe that is kept alive most of the season long, by the sentries on duty who wish to remain unfrozen. There are always two hares on duty in this room, one to always remain and the other to sound the alarm to the rest of the mountain, if need be. Two chairs are situated beneath the slitted windows in the wall.

** THIS ROOM IS BROADCASTING **
Alysari comes slowly up the stairs to silently peer over the top step and out into the room. Somewhere she hasn't explored yet... oooh! But she winces and sits on the top step, rubbing at her bandaged footpaw.
For the most part the sentry room is quiet and empty, except for the fighter buck who has situated himself in one of the chairs, half glancing towards the slitted windows and his ears layered back, just resting it seems. Zeraph slouches a little bit more, eyes half closing as he looks towards the child on the top step. His ears lift off of his head, curiously.
Alysari hears the slouch in terms of creaking chair, and turns, ears lying flat down her back. She wasn't planning to disturb anyone... slowly, as if he might strike if she moved too quickly, she starts to slink shyly backwards down the stairs, keeping her painful footpaw off the stone steps.
Zeraph seems a little concerned about this behavior and goes to stand. "Oh, you don't have to go. I could use some company." The fighter steps over towards the stairs, watching the leveret move down them slowly. She had just startled him a little, is all.
Alysari freezes for a moment, then comes back up, wincing as she stands up on the bandaged footpaw. "Sowwy ta bovver ya..." she mutters quietly, paws clasped behind her back in an almost-at-ease position she must have learned from one of the patrollers.
Zeraph smirks and nods. "Oh, it's no problem, of course." The fighter goes to head back to the chair, patting the other. Got to respect her 'personal space' and all that. "Want to join me for a while? I'll be off duty soon enough." He gives a quick glance out of the window.
Alysari withdraws her head a bit, kinda shrinking into herself. But then she tries to smile and heads for the chair. "'M Alyth," she says with a wobbly little bow before she climbs onto the chair next to him. Her paws immediately go to rubbing her bandaged paw, not that that will actually help much.
Zeraph half bows to her will still in the chair. "Nice to meet you. My name's Zeraph." The buck glances her over, then observes the footpaw, before just looking back up into her eyes. "I haven't seen you before..New?"
Alysari nods solemnly, ears still shyly back against her head. "Pleeshed ta meetcha. Yeth, thir. He found me on the beach, and now I ith here." This is something of a long statement for her, so she shuts up and looks down at her paws, carefully folding them in her lap primly.
This is a sight then, the child sitting in the seat in a very proper manner, and Zeraph just leaned back. He observes this of course and slowly shifts his position so that he is sitting up straight. It may be a subconscious thing. "Hmm..Well welcome to the Long Patrol then, Alys." He has figured that this is her name, seeming as she is saying every 's' like a 'th'.
Alysari smiles, ducking her head as a real smile shows through her shyness. "Tankoo. It'th vewwy nith hewe. Evweebeatht nith."
Zeraph nods. "Yeah..so you fit right in." He yawns a little, looking out the slit window at where the sun is set in the sky. "Would you like to go get something to eat with me, once I get out of here?"
The rips are noted by the buck. "And we can get someone to fix that later." Zeraph looks back up to the sun, then stands up. "I think I can go ahead." The fighter buck holds out his arms to her, if she wants a ride, especially with her injured footpaw.
Alysari brightens, her smile showing through her mask for a moment. She opens her arms up to him. "Tankoo..." she repeats.
"Of course. It's no problem at her." He gently lifts her into his arms, careful of her injured paw and goes to move down the stairs. "Sala's got some of the best food to, ya know." The buck is brightly smiling as well.
